The Maze Runner, directed by Wes Ball, and based off of the book Maze Runner by James Dashner is a movie about a boy named Thomas who ends up living with a group of teenage boys in an unknown place known as, “the Glade.” Thomas learns that he is actually living in a giant maze and is trying to escape with the boys. Life in the glade seems normal, until one day, they have an unexpected visitor who comes and changes everything. They bring a message of doom and the end, and now, it’s up to Thomas to figure out how to get all of the boys out.
I liked the movie enough. It was decently close to the book. Some changes were made because it’d be more simple to explain and understand for the movie compared to in the book. It was very fast paced compared to it as well, which is expected. However, some of the small changes bothered me. Like how they oversimplified the way to escape and had left out certain crucial parts of the book. The way that they killed off some of the characters bothered me as well, like it was too rushed or they did it in a completely different way that wasn’t supposed to happen. But overall, not bad.
