I think when Sophie trip to Williamsburg sends Sophie's already very active imagination even further. But her delightful fantasies only land her in trouble. And now her dad thinks she needs to see a counsellor. No way! He'll just say the same thing everybody does, that she's weird and should stop. But could there be a better way out of this trouble?

In my opinion, Sophie's parents are not wrong if they take her to a counselor, because it seems that Sophie just needs someone who can understand her imagination, listen to her complaints and provide solutions to her problems.
I agree, indirectly his father did the same thing with her friends, they thought Sophie was weird and so on
I think it's a great decision for Sophie to go to the psychiatrist, after met the psychiatrist Sophie got many insight and helps, the psychiatrist also help her communicate with her parents and never judge her badly.
