Lucy risks her life to go into the Fieldstone’s home and rescue that family. Your thoughts about that entire scene? What was Lucy experiencing after it was over and she was sitting on the lawn? When Sean joined her?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments It was a tense moment that could have several different outcomes.

At the end, Lucy was experiencing relief that she saved the boy and caught Danielle. I think she was going over the events in her head, and thinking about what happened, and what could have gone wrong. Her tears were tears of relief and the fear she held back during the negotiations.

When Sean joined her, she relaxed and allowed him to wrap her in his love.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I think her tears were for Justin and the closure this take down brought to her and would finally bring to her family.

This was one of the most brilliantly written parts of the book. I had to go back and read it after listening to the scene. It was Lucy at her finest.

I believe her initial emotions were associated with getting out of Danielle’s head. It was draining. After Swan came up and thanked her, then walked away, Lucy was then left with the emotions of saying her final goodbye to Justin and she was overwhelmed. That’s when the tears began to flow and Sean appeared.

This was an intense and emotional moment for me as I could feel what she was feeling. Brennan outdid herself.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I loved Agent Swan! He didn't second guess Lucy and he trusted her instincts. He was great!

She loved him, too. What a horrid situation she’s returning to.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments It will be interesting to see how the situation in San Antonio plays out. At least Lucy isn't fired. She will probably be made to pay in some other way. To bad she and Sean love San Antonio and really don't want to go anywhere else.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I love Swan too. I would like to see Lucy working for him. I wonder what she is going on back in San Antonio. I sense a little jealousy there.

Good point about her feelings after Swan thanked her. I went back and read that scene too. It is great writing. I could feel Lucy's pain and emotions.

I think Lucy has ruled out San Diego because it’s a “leetle” too close to family. She’ll have to prove herself to the new boss. But, it’s gonna be a bit tough for Rachel Vaughn to sanction an agent who just solved a 20-year old cold case, captured a serial killer, resolved three other cases, helped get that Blair witch convicted and saved another little boy from death…on her own time.

I wouldn't want her to move to San Diego. It will be a strain on her relationship with her family. I'm hoping she moves back to DC with Swan. See how I write my own books.

I like your draft😏

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Wait a minute! Where was Swan from? I thought he was from LA or San Diego.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9242 comments Mod
San Diego.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Okay, I get it. Sharon wants both of them to be in DC and Swan could be Lucy's boss. I kinda like that plot too.

Works for me!

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I also went back to read that scene again; it was so well written and caught us up with Lucy and then with Sean. Very emotional.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments Lucy is a good negotiator and she knew in her heart that she could talk her down. I'm sure she had a ton of adrenaline pumping through her body during this and the fall from that is hard. She also was probably relieved, shocked and excited that they caught Justin's killer. She revealed a lot about herself and her family during the negotiations and that took a lot out of her.
