I just found out that my cousin got a scholarship for being the top 1% in an open exam of 49,976 people

Maybe you want to be more open and talk to more people? That's kinda my trick with making friends. Find someone that you have similar hobbies with or nicer people and ignore everyone else. I can't really help with the home problems but I guess spend less time there as possible.
