Away with the Penguins (How the Penguins Saved Veronica) by Hazel Prior – 4 Stars

This was a quick, fun read with a different setting. Veronica is an 86-year-old woman living in Scotland who doesn’t like people, and the majority of her contact with other people are with people she pays to help her around the house. When a box that she had put aside many years ago is found again, Veronica decides to find the grandson she has never met, and hadn’t been aware of. Whilst they don’t get on well at their first meeting, it is obvious that this will change as the book goes on. I loved seeing the change and development of Veronica and Patrick’s relationship, and I was really interested in the parts about Veronica’s past. The story is alternately told from Veronica and Patrick’s POV, and I am really interested to see where they take this story in the next book in this series.
