The story begins with Woody assigning Kim to represent West Mercia at an Emergency Planning Team (EPT) meeting in preparation for a high profile media event. He says he wants to prepare her for getting used to meetings of this type with an eye on his job. She thought he was kidding. Did you?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments No. I thought he was serious. He has talked to Kim more than once about mentoring her team and preparing them to advance. I believe he is trying to do that for Kim. He wants to see how she will handle the desk. At this point, I don't think Kim is ready.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments He's serious. As Sharon mentions, Woody wants to prepare Kim for the next step in her career which would probably be stepping into his shoes. And, I agree. Kim isn't ready to do Woody's job. She is the kind of person who wants to stay in the field and not direct people from behind a desk.

Lynn (ftbooklover) No, I thought he was very serious. He is obviously preparing for retirement and sees her as the one to take over.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments He was serious. Agree with all the above comments.

He was dead serious. Woody knows that she has to be ready to move up whether she wants to or not.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments I also agree that he was serious, but Kim, like Eve Dallas is happier taking an active role in the investigations.
