The Pennoni Honors College at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA would like to invite you to another Shakespeare Read-Aloud for all interested students, staff, faculty, parents, and friends of the Pennoni Honors College. We will be reading and dissecting Hamlet and discussing the play as we go along.
The young prince Hamlet returns home to Denmark to attend his father's funeral, but find out his mother has already remarried his Uncle Claudius. When his father's ghost visits him and declares that he was murdered, Hamlet sets out to expose the truth by feigning madness. Shakespeare's tragedy follows Hamlet as he struggles with decisions regarding avenging his father's death.
The reading will take place each Wednesday, from 4-5 p.m. live on Zoom. The reading will be led by Pennoni Honors College Dean Paula Marantz Cohen, author of Of Human Kindness: What Shakespeare Teaches Us About Empathy (Yale UP).
Our aim is to have attendees engage with this great play in whatever capacity they choose. You can come to read or just to listen. There will be no pressure, no judgment, no grades — just the chance to commune together over a great work of literature and provide some deep thought and a little laughter in our present moment.
Wednesdays, 4-5 p.m. EST
