For a limited period up to and possibly beyond 12th November, my contemporary romantic legal novel The Ardent Intern is available on Amazon for £0.77/$1.06 and the equivalent in other currencies. Here’s the links.
When law graduate, Ali Barrett, lands an internship, albeit unpaid, with Colchester law firm PWT, she’s over the moon, little anticipating that it will turn her life upside down and lead to heartbreak.
It’s been Ali’s life-long dream to become a solicitor and she avidly follows the case when her firm’s handsome, wealthy client, Graham Spellings, is charged with the attempted rape of a ‘live-in’ stable maid. PWT’s partner, sexy but distant Hugh Sutherland, handles the case.
Professionalism, of course, doesn't rule out romance and Ali has a number of light-hearted entanglements. When her relationship with her neglectful boyfriend, Rob, still away at university, peters out, it isn't a major disaster. Dates with a young, aspiring surveyor who turns out to be a member of the local aristocracy provide a diversion. And a spare-time job behind the bar at a popular local watering hole keeps her busy and brings in much-needed cash.
But serious romance beckons. Within a legal practice, cloistered and thrown into situations with colleagues and others, relationships can become intense. A fertile ground for gossip, a legal practice can foster deep attractions and strong attachments.
A Burns Night party at the home of PWT partner Baz Trimble finds Ali unexpectedly falling headlong for Hugh, though he barely seems to notice and a frustrating few weeks follow…
…Later, a surprise development alters the course of the investigation against Graham. Meanwhile, Ali’s turbulent love life takes a turn for the worse...
It’s the ideal holiday read or to just curl up with at home and get lost in the trials and tribulations of a beautiful young English lawyer.
The Ardent Intern is the first of a series of five novels, the saga stretching into the years ahead, featuring Colchester lawyers, their love lives and more. Your reviews would be appreciated on Amazon, Goodreads, Library Thing and other platforms such as Kobo, Nook and Apple. You can message me for the universal URL.
