i'm an avid reader of thriller novels from a wide range of authors. but i have never come across a hero who thinks and acts like reacher.
what i find special about him:
incredibly observant of minute details, even when not looking for something or trying to solve a problem.
he is not only observant, he thinks about what he notices and works out the mathematical odds in his head for the possible meanings behind what he sees.
he reacts to common events (and dangers) with cool logic and yet is not cold or heartless.
very confident about his abilities and life choices, but not arrogant or rigid.
unconventional and highly creative problem-solving, figuring solutions in his head like a scientist.
all the above means he is not like a typical thriller victim or hero where the bad guy has more intelligence, resources, and good luck than the main character.
that is so refreshing as i am tired of trying to empathise with a main character who is driven by emotions rather than logic.
also wonderful to read books where violence and weapons are not the main tools used to reach a satisfactory conclusion.
