Dorian's growing paranoia and the influence of Henry in corrupting him are mounting! Poor Basil continues to try and be a good influence over Dorian, but in vain. I feel so sorry for Basil! His confession of love was so heartfelt ("The love that he bore him - for it was really love - had nothing in it that was not noble or intellectual" - the notes in my edition draw attention to this line's similarities to "The love that dare not speak its name"), The tragic romance of it is so sad. Poor Basil.
