SOLVED. Adult Sci-Fi Short Story. Group of explorers fleeing hostile aliens cross country. From old Analog magazine? [s]

This was a short story - possibly I read it in an old Analog magazine.
A group of explorers/alien sociologists had landed on a planet and joined a tribe of natives.
Everything going OK, then the aliens undergo some sort of seasonal change and just start slaughtering them all.
The group is on the run back to their space-ship - in small groups and separated. I think there is also a place where they buried weapons and tech-tools along the way.
