I didn't want to impose my choice on others. I had started to read the Fremlin's in order, but have been side-tracked by buddy reads. If anyone wants to suggest a future buddy read, I will happily join in and continue my own meander through her books at my own pace.

I'd love to buddy read another Fremlin and, according to our current schedule, it wouldn't be till about July so hopefully not too close to this one for people. I'll have a look through the titles and suggest something, and if anyone's got a title they're dying to read, post here.

The Trouble Makers is definitely the one I am going to read next.

I appreciate Jill's analysis of Seven Lean Years. Besides providing the benefit of lowering expectations for Seven Lean Years, her comments have made me more curious to read the book so I can:
1) see if I too quickly figure it out like Jill did; and
2) become enough of a Fremlin aficionado as Jill is to be able to spot a second rate Fremlin.

So I'm willing to try Susan's suggestion and suggest the following Fremlin buddy reads:

1) July - Seven Lean Years (Fremlin #3)
2) August or September - The Trouble-Makers (Fremlin #4)

I think we should read The Trouble-Makers fairly soon after Seven Lean Years since, if the latter is likely to be second-rate Fremlin, (but not disappointing due to our lowered expectations), we should get back on the Fremlin horse after a fall. Also, then Jill and some who didn't choose to try SLY, can join in on a Fremlin read, if Jill hasn't already read TTM

3) January 2023 - another Fremlin we choose after reading the above 2. Perhaps Jill or RC could suggest a Fremlin that they want to read then. Several, like Appointment With Yesterday and Prisoner's Base, look like possibilities.
