yes
the main problem with this series is that the entre focus IS the plot, and the characters are just cutouts of people with limited personality traits.
avery is kind, generous and is good at solving puzzles. nothing else.
jameson is a snarky character with barely any personality
greyson's only personality is his cheekbones
also i am surprised none of these characters are going to therapy or getting professional help for their mental health problems. they all lost a loved one and need counselling.
jameson is dealing with all his problems through alcohol, (view spoiler)[and dealing with blaming himself for emily's death and WATCHED EMILY DIE, greyson blames himself for emily and is isolating himself from everyone, zander has his on problems of not feeling accepted in his own family, aery is dealing with grief over her mom's depth, repercussions of having abusive members in her household and absent parents etc. she was also almost SHOT. libby had an abusive boyfriend etc (hide spoiler)]
all these characters need help and instead of getting help they are expected to deal with it. they can also clearly afford it as they are so wealthy.
its an odd message to send to a team audience, as this book is clearly ya. it could have had a powerful story about healing.
