Ishiguro's novel 'Klara and the Sun' refers repeatedly to the issue of pollution. I note that with about a single exception 'Pollution' is spelled with a capital P. I am speculating over the significance of this. Do an other readers know what this might be?

Well, one interpretation is that the Sun and Pollution are metaphors for the eternal struggle of good vs. evil, god vs. devil. Klara elevates the Sun to the status of deity in that she reveres it, prays to it and makes sacrifices to it. And likewise, she decries Pollution as the enemy and antithesis of the Sun and seeks out to destroy the pollution causing machine.
AFs are solar powered. So human actions blocking the sun, i.e. Pollution, can be interpreted as acts against AFs. That could explain why at the end of the book, there are some major issues between AFs and humans.
