a lot of books also sell large print copies, or you could get reading glasses

I don't like how the sony ereaders look, the interface just reminds me of ereaders of 10 years ago and they have a bad reputation for breaking easily and not replacing faulty ereaders. Amazon is at least great with replacement, as I've had to replace mine.
The kindle is more convenient for me as I already have an amazon account. But if I had a ridiculous amount of money, I buy them all and compare them.

If you want to try it out before purchasing, if you have a smartphone, I would try downloading the free kindle or nook app and downloading one of the many free books that are available just to get a feel for how it works for you. You can also use the kindle cloud reader to read books online in your web browser. I was ereading for at least 2 years on my cell phone and my computer before I finally purchased my first kindle.
