I read this in the mid to late 80s, but I'm not sure how new it was then. There were various authors. Obviously there were more than 3 short stories, but the plots in the title are the ones I remember. Spoilers: Girl with snake ring was given to her by people who turn into snakes and protect her. They loved her as if she was their daughter. Man who takes care of bedridden wife wishes she was dead because she is always yelling for him to help her. It has a Tell Tale Heart vibe to it as he keeps hearing her even after he has boarded up the room. Lady in the garden that sees the fox, I think the fox was the spirit of the person she has buried in the garden, but it's been a long time since I read it...

I know I've read it but frustratingly can't remember the title. Im wondering if it was one of Roald Dahl's Twisted Tales or Tales of the Unexpected. It has his sort of vibe to it.

It has his sort of vibe to it."I had never read any Dahl before that wasn't a children's book, so I was very intrigued to read his adult fiction. I didn't find anything of his that matched what I had read in my mystery book, however.
So I'm still searching. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!
