Sue | 255 comments Thanks for that Ken. I knew some of this but not all of it by any means. Some of that 3% does appear to be living in plain sight, doesn’t it.

Cindy Tebo | 84 comments The traits of "sociopath" and "psychopath" do overlap. Thanks for the link, Ken. What ails certain politicians could be anywhere on the psychopath or sociopath spectrum. What percentage of the general population goes into politics? 3 percent?

Getting back to the novel, it occurred to me that Aunt Fanny may have schizophrenia with her visions and her distorted perceptions while she's out in the sundial garden of eden/maze of horrors, or whatever it is. Then again, who knows what the villagers put in their food. :)

Kathleen, I think Fancy was very lonely because she had no one her own age to play with. Her mother encouraged her to hate Mrs. Halloran by planting in Fancy's mind that she killed her father, Lionel. We are led to believe that Fancy would have good reason to push Mrs. Halloran down the stairs without ever knowing for certain that she did it.

It could have been any one of them. Mrs. Halloran could have even committed suicide although that seems like the most unlikely scenario. It's like a, "who done it," where no in the house really cares, "who done it," or why.

To me, every character in this novel seems lonely and peculiar--each in his/her own way.

Anyway, I'm glad to have finished reading this one.
