And what about that ending with Kristi.. she's psychic now, What...
It's fun to discuss as well.
When I want to read a soap opera-ish book, I’m all for it (I do like my share of crazy.) But reading a series categorized as a mystery/thriller that shows up with this many flaws doesn’t even rise to entertaining after the second go round, let alone the fourth.
I find her characterizations offensive (I reiterate, she hasn’t met a stereotype she won’t use), her creativity lacking and her writing dense. I just don’t have time to waste, especially when this junk writing is in excess of 400 pages.
I’ll continue to support the group reads and develop the questions (easy because it’s the same stuff with every book) but I’m done.

I don't want to read anymore of them either. Maybe I'll revisit that in two years or so, but I've had my fill of deranged serial killers for now.
I don't remember feeling this way about the Karen Rose books and she loves her serial killers too.
Karen Rose books enthrall me from start to finish. Her stories are creative and she’s always true to her characters. Yes, she has her share of serial killers but they’re unique in design and aren’t all in the same city with the same focus. She knows how to tell a credible story around a romance that works. I’ve maintained the character lists for the series and she never messes them up. Story and character continuity are just about perfect.
Back in the day, her old website used to include this rather complicated matrix of how her characters connected by story, city and with other characters. It’s gone now but boy was it fantastic.
I actually interviewed Suzanne Brockmann about her Troubleshooters series, asking how she kept up with so many details about the characters and backstories (it’s truly masterful). She described to me this complex notebook and color coding system she created to manage it all. It was obvious she had a system, which is why I posed the question, because there’s a richness to her character development that’s even better than J. D. Robb’s!!! That’s the best compliment I can give.
I’m not sure why Jackson would create a series that couldn’t be read back to back. It shouldn’t matter. Good writing rises above these matters. I haven’t really liked her style but the first book was interesting. She lost me at the second book.

I absolutely love Suzanne Brockmann Troubleshooters is a masterpiece, the characters and the plots were so well done and addictive reading.
But one series I just didn't enjoy as much is the Karen Rose. I'm reading the penultimate one at the moment and am struggling to get through it. So repetitive and so much waffle! And after sticking with it for 20+ books I've decided I'll read one more to finish the arc and that's it for me. But I know I'm in the minority with this opinion.
Personal choice... so interesting.

I know, Anita. I am the only person who feels this way, not a problem. But we do totally agree with Suzanne Brockmann. Just the best!
