Given what was disclosed in the last story, was it unusual that law enforcement didn’t remove all records from the abandoned Our Lady of Virtues Hospital or would privacy laws prevent them from doing so?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Yes, it was! I was surprised there were any records left in that place. It was obvious that didn't do a through search of the place or they just missed the attic area. Even if privacy laws prevented the police from having access to the files, they should have been removed to another location, not left at the hospital.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) We have an ex historical Asylum in our area which has been repurposed by the Health Department here and part of it is used for the day program where my adult disabled son goes. Years ago when we were given access to use a new building which had been abandoned and had substantial damage there were filing cabinets filled with old records of patients still there. We were all amazed that they were just left there This was in the 90's and I don't think it would happen today.

In this story it was a bit far fetched because after the previous storyline the place would have been gone through with a fine tooth comb. You'd of thought nothing would have been left and there wouldn't have been areas not examined.

The HIPPA laws do provide privacy from them being able to access those files but protocol is to secure them with another psychiatrist for safekeeping. That building should have been searched and emptied because it was a crime scene from two previous events.

In my opinion, it was nonsensical that the building was still full of records.
