Following her recuperation, Eve returns to New Orleans, the same day that Cole is released. She’s obviously being followed by someone who isn’t Cole. What were you thinking about his guilt or innocence at this point?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I never thought Cole was guilty of either the murder or shooting Eve. I thought the killer was a very patient guy for waiting until Eve was on her way to New Orleans before making a move.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Again, the author is putting that smidge of doubt into the reader's mind. Having Eve followed by someone on the day of Cole's release. but not him. Is Cole involved somehow? Why on the day of his release? All adding to the drama and twists of the plot which as we know is pretty twisty, LOL.

But what did you think at the time? Did it convince you it wasn’t Cole or not?

What I honestly thought was that Cole was there at the time of Eve's shooting.. but he wasn't shooting at Eve but the mystery assailant. And for some reason he was lying about being there. Probably because it would make him look guilty. He should have come clean with Eve though. Typical lack of communication drama. In so many of these books if people would just be honest it would head off so much grief.

It couldn't have been Cole following her because he had just been let out of jail hadn't he so the timing wouldn't work.

It was here that I was certain Cole wasn’t trying to kill her, especially since we got his point of view and he just wasn’t thinking that way. I still wasn’t clear how to square what Eve saw that night and him being innocent.
