I didn't get it at the time. Although it did set the spidey senses tingling that she was going to be trouble in the future.
I actually stopped to reflect. I was considering Max’s theory that he had a partner and his reaction to Ava’s testimony was like someone betrayed. He said he was going to die, like he didn’t believe before that moment that his conviction was a possibility. This is when I really began to embrace the theory of a partner.
Other than the fact that her testimony was really bothering Bachmann and he seemed to realize he wasn't going to get out of this unscathed, I didn't think anything of his reaction.
I thought his reaction was strange. It was as if he couldn't believe she was actually testifying against him. I just thought he was delusional thinking he was going to escape judgment.
I figured it was just because she was still alive and able to tell everyone what he did. It was almost embarrassing to him.
