Alyana | 1064 comments I'll try to find brown book covers but space operas are not my kind of book. I'm sorry! :(

Snezana | 339 comments Devann wrote: "i always vote anyway just for fun but i agree that generally you can look at the nominees from the first round and go 'oh well that one's going to win' because really it's just like 'who's the most well known or hyped author this year'"

You're right, I think this year out of all nominated books I read I didn't like any of them. Or not enough to vote for them anyways. That's why I would have liked if they have at least kept the write in option for the first round.

message 254: by Snezana (new)

Snezana | 339 comments I'm okay with space opera, but brown is my least favorite color. 🤣

message 255: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments I have a space opera book that I was planning to read next but I'll hold off until the new round. I like space opera so can probably read one or two more. Brown covers shouldn't be too hard, I hope.

message 256: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments Do we need any particular letters for this round?

if anyone has the American edition of The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, that covers all bases (and is also EXCELLENT)"

I second this suggestion :)

Kristel | 287 comments Hey! Is there a countdown to the end of this round? I've tried to find it but no luck

message 259: by Kate (new)

Kate (kcbond) | 643 comments I'm just glad we don't have an I - so many I's! :)

Feel the same about the first round of Goodreads books but usually by the second round or so the better stuff seems to drift to the top, although not always in line with my opinions!

Thanks for reading all! I will be updating things today and tomorrow.

Judy | 4065 comments Hello team!!

I've just done a big update and put all the books for this round into the spreadsheet. A few things:

- Keep in mind the minimum page count for this challenge is 160 pages, not 100 like for some other challenge. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to use a couple of books because they were too short :(

- Please confirm whether books have the tag before you check the box on the planning spreadsheet! They need to have the tag at least 10 times - again, we haven't been able to use a couple of books because they just weren't tagged that (enough). ("horror" for this past round, "space opera" for next round)

- Please everyone double-check that you have all the books on your shelf - there were only a couple but just to be sure ;)

We're still 14 books short of our minimum for this round, so if you can squeeze another one in before the deadline (countdown: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...), that'd be great! (If not, don't worry!)

We still have space for 3 more "horror" books - I'll probably be able to finish one before the deadline but that still leaves two.

message 264: by Peg (new)

Peg | 88 comments I will be finishing Demon Theory tomorrow, I just put it down for the night. That will give us another horror tag.

message 265: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments I'm just finishing one more book for this round and should be done by tomorrow.

I have four books that were tagged as horror for this round, were they counted? I think they have at least 10 tags before I added them.

Two worked, two didn't - neither The Woman in the Window nor Forward Slash have enough (it has to be "horror" by itself, not part of a "horror-mystery-thriller" tag)

The Woman in the window has 77 horror tags, it's on page 2.

I apologize for Forward Slash, when I saw it was horror mpg, I forgot to check if it has at least 10 tags.

Kate (kcbond) | 643 comments Hi all,

Just a weekly check-in reminder to put your books on your shelf! I had forgotten one of mine.

Also, don't know how many books are coming in today so if you see this and are going to finish one let us know!

Final note, I will get Round 4 up tonight on the tracking spreadsheet when internet is better but be thinking about those words and color!

Thanks Kate! I might not be much of a help next round as space opera is not my usual genre but I will try to read at least one.

message 285: by Kate (new)

Kate (kcbond) | 643 comments I think that second one for sure - need to look at the first on my computer to give my opinion but at first glance I say definitely brown enough.

message 286: by Snezana (new)

Snezana | 339 comments I think the text on this one is brown, but I want to check with the captains. If not I'll look for something else.
Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon

message 287: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments oh yeah right, I forgot about that: for this round, it's not the cover color but the text on the cover that has to be that color

which is brown

Great! We need 5 of them, so I figured I should read at least one with brown text. :)

message 293: by Kate (new)

Kate (kcbond) | 643 comments I'm a vote for brown text on that one. And lots of page points! Have you read it before Snezana? I had to start it three times before getting through it - it was a slog for me! The others I flew so who knows.

Judy | 4065 comments Checked us in for round 3!

message 295: by Peg (new)

I tried to read it once before but failed. Read two parts before giving it up. Now I'm reading it with a friend so that's giving me motivation. It's kind of disappointing, I loved the first book and read it very quickly. But this one is a slog so far. I feel like things are finally starting to happen, so I hope the second half is more interesting.

I checked Sycamore Row with Tin Eye and says it's mostly brown both background and text. But I let you decide captains if we can use or not.

message 299: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments Judging from Tin Eye, it looks like this one should work.
