iimpulsvbtch | 1244 comments do you think it's more important for your friends and family to understand you or accept you?

I really wish Mary was here cause I am not the type who has amazing reasons for her answers. But I'll try my best here

Acceptance>understanding
(An example I gave. I might have overshared a lil.)

Hence, accepting someone is superior to understanding someone.

Hope I made sense

Artemis ✨ (artemis_goddessofthemoon) | 282 comments I agree with Kyra. accepting a person is more important because in some cases the person does not even fully understand themselves but by accepting them you show that you are there for them no matter what.

I agree! acceptance> understanding, because your family and friends may never understand you or your choices, but they can accept your complexity and they can also accept you for the happiness that you add to their life

agreed
while feeling understood is nice, and it can be frustrating to feel misunderstood all the time, I think acceptance is more valuable

Yes, I agree too. I know that sometimes it can't be that easy to understand someone, but if you accept them like who they are, you're showing your willingness to try to understand them.

it does not sound creepy
and calling someone a critical thinker is actually a great compliment.
there's so much that goes on in my head tbh I just like thinking about things and I like hearing other people's opinions because I think its really important to understand yourself and the people around you

I like being around people like you cause I don't have opinions on a lot of things so I feel like whenever I get to know others' opinions, I develop my own.

Like you know how we complain that the characters of a book had no depth? Ever noticed people like that irl?

I don't think I've ever met anyone with character depth irl. my biggest ick is that some of the most simple minded people always at some point tell me "I know i'm really complicated so you might not get it" like dude. dude. have you met yourself???? who are you even describing rn? :0

Hahaha I think I kinda say that. I don't call myself complicated, I call situations complicated even when they aren't. I like people who have deep layers to them. So much to learn and observe. I have interests on how different people react in different situations. It always fascinates me
