Can you explain it in simple terms ? Becusee I’m getting some complicated definitions"
alright, so existentialism basically just says that we're here, and we are the ones that choose what to do about it. it says that life's got no meaning other than the one we choose to attribute to it. so you ask an existentialist how to live and they'll tell you to choose. so existentialists often believe in free will.
absurdism says that although it's in our nature to seek meaning, man can't find absolute meaning. so man'll search towards a meaning they won't be able to find (that's the 'absurd'). it says that life is pointless, and choosing to engage in a world, even when it doesn't matter is one of the choices that we have. the other choices being 1) suicide 2) philosophical suicide, which is faith in god(s) or 3) realising and embracing that man can't know what the meaning of life is and has got to just live with it. absurdists tend to believe that there's no use for free will because life's absurd.

Ohhh…
So basically existentialism is like ‘life is what you want it to be. You decide it’s meaning’
And absurdism is like ‘life has no meaning, it’s useless searching for it’.

the book I'm reading is kind of about how meaningless life is and sort of hints towards signs of absurdism by comparing different psychoanalytic theories and the beliefs of different philosophers/ anthropologists/psychoanalysts so I already had some points I wanted to say but was trynna find a simple way to type it out

I think I realize is existentialism and absurdism is literally opposite of the concept of religion.
It’s interesting to see.

yes then there's also nihilism that also says life's got no meaning or its impossible to find that meaning so it doesn't matter

From the above, you’ll go to heaven.
So, there is the meaning of life. That’s what people follow for the most part.
