I feel like permissive parents are raising spoiled and arrogant kids. This is why I need there should be some boundaries, authority, also of course guidance.
Both extremes are bad

5-9 years should say dumb stories and go to sleep.
When I was 7, me and my sister used to do stupid skits and roleplays
🙄 🤚

Tell me about it! I have this cousin, who's mom lets him do whatever he wants! you can't mess with him, because at the end, he always turns out to be the victim. He thinks he's the center of the universe, and there's nothing more important than him!
you think I'm spoiled or arrogant? I have literally permission to do nothing but study. they don't even let me watch TV. if they knew about gr or the web series I'm watching then they'll literally kill me. and it's not that they're bad parents. they want me to excel by banning me to do things.
Ishika wrote: "you think I'm spoiled or arrogant? I have literally permission to do nothing but study. they don't even let me watch TV. if they knew about gr or the web series I'm watching then they'll literally ..."My parents are kind of the same way...
Ishika wrote: "you think I'm spoiled or arrogant? I have literally permission to do nothing but study. they don't even let me watch TV. if they knew about gr or the web series I'm watching then they'll literally ..."Yeah...They don't mean any harm, they're just doing what thinks is best.

Thank you <3
Ishika wrote: "you think I'm spoiled or arrogant? But if they knew I talk to people in gr, you probably never hear from me again.
Maya [semi-hiatus] wrote: "Ishika wrote: "you think I'm spoiled or arrogant? I have literally permission to do nothing but study. they don't even let me watch TV. if they knew about gr or the web series I'm watching then the..."Same !!
Ishika wrote: "you think I'm spoiled or arrogant? I have literally permission to do nothing but study. they don't even let me watch TV. if they knew about gr or the web series I'm watching then they'll literally ..."That’s gonna lead to burnout.
Maya [semi-hiatus] wrote: "Ishika wrote: "but I don't think it's the best thing to do"Yeah, I know 😞"
Yes... And then there are the parents who think they are doing the right thing by restricting their child from everything... But they also abuse them...
T. wrote: "Maya [semi-hiatus] wrote: "Ishika wrote: "but I don't think it's the best thing to do"Yeah, I know 😞"

You can’t even talk back or defend yourself because that’s disrespectful and we’re not willing to listen to them.

Yes, I'm not saying that what they're doing is okay or justified, I'm saying that some parents don't realize that what they're doing is wrong, even though they have good intentions.
Ishika wrote: "yes if I dissappear then either I'm discovered or I died(just kidding)"Those are the only two reasons I would disappear from GR for more than a day.
Ishika wrote: "Yess exactly. to them they are just trying to secure their kid's future."And insuring you’re not spoiled or irresponsible.
Maya [semi-hiatus] wrote: "T. wrote: "Maya [semi-hiatus] wrote: "Ishika wrote: "but I don't think it's the best thing to do"Yeah, I know 😞"

I know... I feel bad for the child and the parents in that situation.
Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "it makes me happy to know that there are parents that can think past all the ideologies of traditional parenting and who focus on having thei..."I feel like this has the potential to be highly effective as long as the child is taught boundaries, respect and shit like that from a young age. But it could especially benefit the kid's relationship with their parents once they start becoming a teenager and start getting curious about things.
The thing most parents don't understand is that by being strict, you are not ensuring the safety of your child because chances are, they either will do it anyway behind your back, or they won't but only out of fear of the punishment you'll inflict upon them and not because they know why they shouldn't do it. which might work alright, until the kid grows up and then boom, you've got a dependant adult who has no developed critical thinking skills, terrible communication skills and very low self esteem, which is much more harmful in the long run.
the purpose of having rules is to keep your kid safe and so many parents somehow forget that?
Ishika wrote: "you think I'm spoiled or arrogant? impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "it makes me happy to know that there are parents that can think past all the ideologies of traditional parenting and who focu..."What you’ve describe is called ‘Authoritative Parenting’ which basically means setting clear expectations and also listening to your child’s demand. Aka being caring and nurturing.
Permissive parenting means only listening to your child’s demands and keeping no boundaries.
impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "it makes me happy to know that there are parents that can think past all the ideologies of traditional parenting and who focu..."But exactly how are you supposed to explain that to them?
impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "it makes me happy to know that there are parents that can think past all the ideologies of traditional parenting and who focu..."Omg! Yes! This is so true! If there's too many restrictions, your children will start hiding things from you, and do things behind your back.
my parents say that if I give up 2 years of my life then my future would become very easy. they don't care about college pressure and job pressure (and they think I'm an idiot who don't know about these things)
Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "it makes me happy to know that there are parents that can think past all the ideologies of traditional pa..."ah, I see. well, these are my thoughts anyway

Now your child has low self esteem, low communication skills and does not know how to express their feelings.
Oh, and they also do things behind your back.
Ishika wrote: "my parents say that if I give up 2 years of my life then my future would become very easy. they don't care about college pressure and job pressure (and they think I'm an idiot who don't know about ..."Give up 2 years ??
Why ??

Unknown wrote: "Ishika wrote: "my parents say that if I give up 2 years of my life then my future would become very easy. they don't care about college pressure and job pressure (and they think I'm an idiot who do..."I'm lost too 😅
Ishika wrote: "and actually I have heard a lot of people say that giving up your life for 2 years is worth it."Maybe ?
When I was young, I used to think whatever my parents are doing or saying is always right and fair. I also used to think they know me really well.As I grew older, this illusion shattered.
no matter how pure their intentions may be, it does not change the damage they are causing. also, I don't see how any of what I said is rocket science? it's common sense. I have no interest in ever being a parent and don't know much about parenting and yet I can clearly see how harmful it is?
Maya [semi-hiatus] wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "Unknown wrote: "impulsvbtch wrote: "it makes me happy to know that there are parents that can think past all the ideologies of traditional pa..."yep. then when they need help, you'll be their last option because they know how badly you'll react. in what world does any of this seem safe?

I've also seen multiple interviews where they ask random children about their thoughts on social/economic/political issues and apparently so many of them already have a lot to say (I'm talking 5-9yos)
