Carla (carlasanzo) | 91 comments No, I could never. Text Books Yes but book books... NEVER

message 52: by June (new)

June I just can't bring myself to do it, perhaps because I've so rarely enjoyed the comments in the books I get from used bookstores which are already written in.

But I love Book Darts. https://www.bookdarts.com/

Any of you use them?

emma ୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆ | 11 comments Yeah I usually do ONLY however if I’ve already read it. Ik it kinda defeats the purpose but if I start a book I don’t like I wouldn’t want to feel bad over wasting my time annotating it yk?

message 54: by Aina (new)

Aina (ainaraafr) | 27 comments YES, and I also highlight quotes I like

Drew (Taylor's version)✨ sometimes!

message 56: by surs (new)

surs | 5 comments sometimes it really depends. i don’t do it too
much cuz i’m worried it ruins the books, but when there’s a really good moment or part i make small notes or comments. i usually only tab or write under the line/on the margin.

message 59: by Chloe (new)

Chloe No, I don't and I do not highlight nor underline.. I would say this - if you find a book you find you NEED to annotate or mark in any way- buy another copy and do it in that. And never, ever, ever do it in a borrowed book of any kind.

Heather | 97 comments 😱 What?! Do you also want to know if I kick puppies too?! No, of course I don't write on my books. I'm not a heathen. 😏

message 70: by ~☆~Autumn (new)

~☆~Autumn | 1 comments I learned to do this in college while studying for exams. I normally purchased already used books to save money and many notes were very helpful. Some had too much pointless highlighting as some highlight while they read! I just managed to read 2 books without creating one note or highlight! I am thinking about donating them to the library.

Donne | 19 comments I used to, but I've had a kindle for so many years now. Having said that though, I still create notes and highlights on my kindle.

Yasmin (yazg.books) ✨ (yazgbooks) | 14 comments I never used to but now i enjoy annotating. However, i do like to just read a book to read a book. So i think sometimes i'll stick to just reading without annotations

message 82: by CG. (new)

CG. (cgi_angel) | 2 comments No, I'm a little too OCD for that. If I have notes, I usually just write in a journal or notebook.

message 83: by Linn (new)

Linn | 24 comments I don’t do anything. It would distract me from actually reading and enjoying the book. Also I have to sell some books sometimes.

message 88: by April (new)

April Lilly | 6 comments I never used to as I felt like it was destroying my books, but now I've taken to writing in them and underlining favorite parts.

message 89: by Plume (new)

Plume | 60 comments I almost never write in pen or highlight in my fiction books, unless there's a quote I REALLY like. I have no problem underlining or writing things in pencil though, I have some small drawings in my copy of The Night Circus (a favourite). My absolute favourite darling books though I like to keep pristine because those I've usually read them a few times and I know where to find the parts I love if I'm looking for them. I put in little translucent tabs though.

Nonfiction though is another story, I LOVE highlighting and annotating those. I even dog-ear if there's an index or a notes page at the end, or a map in the beginning I'd like to reference while reading. I see these as information and learning sources so my relationship to them is a bit different.
