Toi Thomas (toithomas) | 213 comments Greetings book clubbers.

Please provide your answers to as many or as few of the questions as you’d like in the comments below. Feel free to ask more questions if you’d like.

-
1. Do you usually read mystery/crime fiction or was this a departure for you? (For writers, do you write mystery/crime fiction, or would that be a departure for you?)

2. How does time increase the intensity of the plot/character motivation in the various stories within this collection?

3. Would you like to read more stories about any of the protagonists in this book? (Contributing writers-Do you have any more stories using the protagonist featured in Tick Tock?)
-

Thank you to the various contributors of this anthology for the wonderful questions.

Feel free to also share your reviews and or thoughts on the book in your comments.

Alex Cavanaugh (alexjcavanaugh) | 7 comments I read some and I felt these stories provided an excellent variety. From Gwen's gentle (and familiar as I've read about the character before) and friendly style to the intense and realistic setting of Jemi's story, there was something for everyone.

Toi Thomas (toithomas) | 213 comments Gwen’s story was very fun.

Jemi Fraser | 8 comments I'm proud to be an author in this anthology! So many great stories. A lot were new-to-me authors and I loved the different takes.
A ticking clock adds SO much tension. I loved playing with the countdown aspect of the clock.
(thanks Alex!)

Ronel Janse van Vuuren (miladyronel) | 71 comments I watch a lot of crime/murder mystery TV shows, but I don't really read it.

I enjoyed the first story and expected the others to be in the same vein... Anyhow, here's the link to my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Tyrean | 21 comments I love this anthology and many of the others for the variety of offerings. While I'm not a huge mystery/crime fan currently, about half the books I read growing up were mystery novels. I had a lot of fun reading this anthology.

Glad you enjoyed it :-)

Louise | 3 comments I enjoyed every story in this anthology. It was great fun to read the stories by authors I know through the IWSG. I appreciated the variety in the stories, from C.D. Gallant-King's outrageously funny detective story, to C. Lee McKenzie's creepy murder mystery, to Mary Aalgaard's harrowing portrayal of domestic abuse. I occasionally read mysteries, and I always enjoy them.

Mary Aalgaard (maryaa) | 1 comments Thanks. I am proud to be part of this anthology. All the stories are engaging and have a different take on the use of time to build suspense.

Toi Thomas (toithomas) | 213 comments I haven't gotten around to posting my review yet and want to answer the questions after I've done that, but I just wanted to pop in and say thanks to all who've shared their thoughts on these selections. I really enjoy reading about how others react to stories I've read, whether they liked it or not. I love talking about books and sharing this experience with others.

Rebecca Douglass (rdouglass) | 36 comments I haven't had the time to re-read the anthology, but as a contributing writer, wanted to note that mystery is my usual genre, though in my story I had fun mixing a semi-fantasy setting into it. And I do have a couple of other stories in the same setting, featuring my "sleuth."

That's really cool. What are the other stories you have featuring your sleuth?

Toi Thomas (toithomas) | 213 comments I finally got around to writing my review if anyone is interested: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

1. I started reading mysteries a few years ago. I was never really into them but now I enjoy cozy mysteries and the occasional crime drama. I may try to write one, one day.

2. Time is used so well and in so many ways throughout this collection. I like how the first story connects a mystery from the past to one in the present. The last story uses real-time in an incredible way.

3. I would definitely read more from any of these characters, but the girl and ghost from Stitch in Crime are at the top of my list.
