Hey Haleema !Pronouns are literally the pronouns in English language - he/she/they , you get the idea
pronouns are what we refer to people in third person. Ex ‘she was here just now’. Or ‘it is her’.
Most people want to be referred as she/her or he/him. But some people don’t prefer either and would like to be addressed as they/them. Because they don’t identify as either male or female.
In few people’s bio, you’ll see she/they or he/they. That means they are ok with either of those pronouns. Some people are ok with all the pronouns.
They are important, because most people don’t want to be misgendered. You’re she/her, right ? I’m sure you don’t want people to refer you as ‘he’. For example ‘ haleema likes to read, he reads a lot’
So, respect people’s pronouns.

Haleema, more than the fact that pronouns help us in speech, it's more like you tell your gender to someone. Imagine you dress like a guy(according to society standards) and someone addresses you as 'him'. What would you feel? Yea that's what pronouns are. They tell us the gender of a person and you have to respect it no matter what the society think a boy or girl should look like/dress like.
