The way the author used the pronoun "he" constantly w/o names

Audrey It seems obvious that she was doing it deliberately, and after a while I realized that "he" was always whichever main character was being discussed at the time, but I still often got confused momentarily about who "he" was at any given time.


TheBookbytheRiver Agreed, for some time I thought Harold was talking to me and not to William when Harold started using 'you'.


Audrey Even the narrator's passive voice constantly used "he."
