I didn't like the cruel prince either cuz the characters are vvv toxic, back when I read it I was only informed that there's politics, faeries, and with a pinch of romance that's why when I finished it I was... bewildered but I think I liked it around book 2 lol

You should rate books based on ur own opinion bub, just because everyone liked it doesn't mean you're obliged to do so. And I've seen a lot of ppl rate hyped and famous books here with low rating and they rarely received negative comments
