Just wanted to let everyone know in case you aren’t familiar with jackfruit. When Eric suggests using it as a meat substitute, make sure you use canned green jackfruit in brine, not the jackfruit that you can buy fresh that is yellow. Once it has ripened, and turned yellow, it becomes extremely sweet, and does not work with most recipes.

Yes - good point, we get our canned Jack Fruit at Trader Joe’s. Anyone else know where to get this plant-based meat substitute in a can?

Jodi Thomas I saw it in Weis in the produce department in a box. Not in brine. I am not sure how I feel about Jack fruit. I want to like it but, I had it once in a thai restaurant vegan dinner and I hated it!

That is what Rachael is saying, I think…if you get it “fresh” (or it was overripe & fermented too much/sweetened) it tastes bad, so buying canned in brine the way to go for making a “pulled BBQ” sandwich or something.
