Interesting thought, John. I listened to that a couple years ago. My review was, "This is my first experience with Russian literature and it was wild. This felt like The Island of Dr Moreau meets Flowers for Algernon in Russia. I'm sure that I missed a lot of references and much of the satire because I know nothing almost nothing about Russian history."

I'll be interested to see if this book reminds me of that one or not.
