Review; I liked the book just fine. Getting to know Finn and Harrison but I thought it was a series where we stayed with the same couple or at least the same authors. I stay away from series like these with a passion as I just don't enjoy them. I was liking the book but it ended without much of a anything. If it had been book one and we were getting to know the couple and the next one would build upon that couple as we were getting to know everyone else in the town would be one thing as loved the families, the mothers, and the couples I just hate series that have different authors. I won't continue the series. Unless made to. I felt let down by this book. It had promise for a great series staring these two.

Review: This was a very low-key, sweet romance between a man whose husband had been dead for 3 years and a younger man road-tripping to try to 'find himself'. Neither one of them were very communicative about themselves or their past with each other, but they managed to communicate the important things, for sure.

Diane | 881 comments Wende, I think that knowing up-front that this is just a set of books taking place in the same setting and written by different authors helps with the expectation that it is a 'series'. That aspect didn't bother me at all. And you did get to start with the first book too!

Anyway, that's why we picked it -- so that we could all read different books in the series without having to worry about the order. Also, gave us a chance to pick authors we preferred over ones we may not.

I get that completely. I was just giving my review. I didn't like the book very much as a stand alone. It would have been okay as a starting book. To getting to know the couple but it was not. That is what I am saying. It was to short to fall in love with the couple as the book was rush. It glossed over Harrison's fear of dying. I just felt it was rushed. Just when the book was starting it was done. It either needed to be longer or have a part two. Not having that is why I did not like it as part of a series

message 707: by Wende (new)

Wende | 1741 comments I am sorry Diane I did not like the book. It could have been better but with only 186 pages the author just didn't do it. There were just not enough meat to the book. It was sweet and unassuming but if a book is over 100 pages I want more. I was not complaining about the series just was saying I found this book lacking as a stand alone

message 708: by Diane (new)

Diane | 881 comments Odd isn't it? Usually I find Annabeth Albert to be quite a good read. I wonder if the fact that it was a series meant she didn't put as much effort into is as usual.

That is what I was trying to say Diane. It felt off. It was to short and it introduced the town but we didn't get to know the two characters enough.

message 710: by Wende (new)

Wende | 1741 comments If it was the same author she would know how each book would be mapped out. She could have taken it slow and easy to the next couple. But she does not have that road map. I am sure books later in the series would as they are building on the world that is already there. Book one needed to be longer

I actually liked this miscommunication story. Gabe’s inner voice had me chuckling with his over analyzing the body language of Leather-Jacket-Hot-Dude and getting the wrong conclusions. Then our undercover FBI agent, Alec, over analyzing Gabe’s actions as as being involved with his case to discover the drug smuggling source. Alec starts out to be such a scowling grump, so focus on his undercover mission, but it just added to the whole fiasco and his character growth. Finally, I have so say the Tuxedo scene, hot hot hot!

I liked this much more than I thought I would. Sports romances are always a bit tricky for me. Especially one's with one of the MC's being in the closet. No need to worry though, Adam didn't stay in the closet for very long. I really liked how well the story was floating and the way Adam and Colby interacted with each other. If it wasn't for the big old miscommunication thing happening this would've been a five star read for me. I will for sure keeps my eyes open for more books from this author.

Task 16 - 34. Read 6 books first published between 2000 and 2010.

Books selected for this task need to have been initially published between 1.1.2000 and 12.31.2010. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page, use that one. Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the initial publication date in your completion posts.

Loved the humor, loved the mystery, and the ending! This story is more about the mystery and side characters than the romance, and beautifully done. But then again I’m a big Josh Lanyon fan.

After 10 years when I first read this story, it’s still a great suspense mystery. Perry and Nick’s slow burn romance just as great.

I read this book for the first time about two years ago and I really, really liked it. It was even better the second time around though. And still as good the third time around.

Heidi Cullinan writes amazing books and extremely hot sex and I've been here for it in every book I've read by her. This one though. It's so very hot. I can't even...

The way Sam and Mitch got together and figured each other out was just perfect. It was slow and rocky but you always knew that they got each others back. Of course Randy creeped me out the first time I read this but having read the rest of the series I saw him in a different light this time around.

5 really hot stars.
