I heard that dun, dun, dun, dun music playing in my head. I didn't think Tink was ready. There were a few times that I thought Kim was going to call someone to help get Tink out. I don't think it was a mistake, but she was in danger.
This was a slight weakness in the plot for me. Already Kim had grossly underestimated the evilness and manipulation that was Unity Farm and then to send a relatively inexperienced police officer undercover with very little back up. This seemed a little far fetched to me.
I didn't believe they would ask Tink to go undercover without a lot of training. It was a dumb move and I was very worried about her. I was also shocked that she would lose her second phone in the restroom. It was her lifeline. Why would you walk away from it?
Lisa, you make a great point about Kim’s underestimation of the cult aspect leading her to make a mistake in letting an inexperienced officer go undercover. I don’t think it was a plot mistake for that reason…you provided the perfect logic for the decision.
That’s why I don’t think it was a mistake. Tiffany turned out to be more skilled than I gave her credit. She was in danger but she was managing.

I just re-read my original comment, and it doesn't make any sense. What I meant to say was...When they decided to put Tink undercover, I heard that dun, dun, dun, dun music playing in my head. Trouble was brewing.
I didn't think Tink was ready for a big undercover operation, and I was sure she was going to be in danger at some point. Even Kim was worried a few times which made me think she was going to call Tink out.
That said, I don't think it was a mistake as Tink did what she needed to do until leaving the phone.
I guess I shouldn't try to post when my stomach is growling. LOL

I think I was just surprised that Kim was nearly off hand about the danger of the cult and sending in an inexperienced Officer. It's part of the interesting thing about Kim really she has her childhood issues which has caused trauma and she has buried deeply and then her police persona in which she rarely makes mistakes. But this time she did and the fact that she acknowledged it and cares deeply for her team is a step forward for her in her own personal healing.
Great point Lisa. We do expect Kim to get it right on the job, even if she takes personal risks. Kim will never take a cult lightly again.
I agree with all of you on this one. I didn't think an experienced detective like Kim Stone would send someone undercover without extensive training, but that fact also shows how much Kim underestimated the power of the cult. Tink's blunder of leaving the phone in the restroom seems unprofessional, but it showed both how unprepared she was for undercover work, but also the effect the cult was having on her normal thought processes.
It was a good idea to put in an undercover officer, but the choice of Tink was not well thought out. She had no training in this area and her personality was also not up to the task - she is too caring. To me, this was just a way for Marsons to reinsert Tink into the series.
