Kim discovers that the Browns used the services of Kane Drummond to extricate Samantha from Unity Farm and perform an intervention. Your thoughts about him and his methods?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3519 comments Drummond was a creepy character to me. I was waiting for him to turn out to be a part of Unity Farm. His methods seem out there although I did watch a show on some people who capture cult members and reverse brainwash. It is difficult to bring them back to the real world.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) It was always questionable which side Drummond was really on. Although the revelation that his brother had been one of the cult's victims did make me understand his character a little more. I wonder if we will see him again?

Robin (robinmy) | 2485 comments I was all over the place with this character. I believed that he was taking people out of the cult and trying to reverse the brainwashing. But then I wondered if he had something to do with the bodies turning up in the lake. I thought maybe they were people who couldn't be reversed. I kept going back and forth as to whether he was helping the situation.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3519 comments Robin I'm with you. He was a difficult character to figure out until we got his story.

I’m with Robin, too. Drummond was a complete enigma and I was definitely all over the place with him too. I vacillated back and forth between thinking he was a good guy and believing him to be a secret tool of Jake’s.

Lynn (ftbooklover) Everything I've ever heard or read about cults played into my opinion that Kane was doing what was necessary to get people out of the cult. However, I was also reminded that similar methods have been used on kids who come out as gay when their parents think they need "straightening" out.

That was in the very back of my mind, too, Lynn.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Drummond was a very intriguing and ambiguous character throughout. At one point, I even thought he was working in kahoots with Black by laundering the money for the cult in his businesses.

The information on the indoctrination and reconditioning processes was very interesting. It is not easy to extricate someone from that mindset and it was ultimately clear that his intentions were good.

It’s so very scary how groups like these can take over people’s mindsets, sometimes permanently.

message 11: by Lynn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lynn (ftbooklover) Angela Marsons did a good job conveying the scary aspects of cults.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3519 comments I agree Lynn. She does her research then creates believable characters and events.

It’s one of the many aspects of this series that makes it compelling.
