This series has never explicitly said it, but the Alphas are angels. I kind of like how Armentrout went with the traditional angel lore desription of having eyes on their wings. I don't think that I have ever read a book that had that.

I am a little surprised with how Zayne reacted to Layla's truth about how she feels about him. I get that she broke his heart but if he cared like he thinks he does then he wouldn't have reacted so badly or left her there alone. I don't know. I think I'm torn about the whole thing. I can understand where he is coming from but I also can't excuse his behavior. I wonder if his reaction had anything to do with his new personality traits since Layla took some of his soul?

Aww, Roth had let Layla go to Zayne because he thought that it was what would make her happy. Even if it made him miserable, he was willing to stand by and let her pick Zayne over him so that she could be happy. My heart hurts. It definitely puts Zayne's behavior about the "break up" into perspective. (hide spoiler)]

I am glad that he is gone but now the Lilin is masquerading around as Elijah. Taking the soul must mean that the Lilin can take on the appearance of that person and gets their memories. I can’t believe the way that Zayne is treating Layla because she chose Roth over him. If he cared about her wouldn’t he be happy for her?

Hmm, so original demons, ones that are fallen angels, have feathered wings. So then why does Layla have them? She is obviously not a fallen angel.

I reckon that Layla keeping her plans to herself for rescuing Sam’s soul from the Grim Reaper will put a dent in her relationship with Roth. He doesn’t want her to go and she doesn’t want him to go either.

Wow, so demons only love once and it’s for forever. And demons live forever. I can understand Layla’s concerns about growing old when Roth with look young for eternity. Roth’s immediate response that he doesn’t care about that was so heartwarming. And maybe he’s right. Maybe Layla will be different since she has demon blood.

Aww, Layla is getting a familiar tattoo of a fox. And she is going with Roth’s Disney movie naming theme and naming it Robin from the Robin Hood movie. Love it.

(view spoiler)[Grim’s information was enlightening. So Layla isn’t a demon because Lilith isn’t a demon. And the Wardens are fallen angels that were cursed and turned to stone. The fallen angels in hell are ones that escaped punishment by going to hell. Wow.

That mother/daughter meeting was pretty pointless.

So Sam’s soul isn’t in hell. The Lilin consumed his soul so it is still within the Lilin. Along with any other souls it has consumed.

OMG, no! If the Lilin dies then so does Layla? Why didn’t I think of that before? Because if Layla dies then so does Lilith so it makes sense. OMG. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Well, at least Abbott sort of redeemed himself by saving Layla. I actually can’t believe that he sacrificed himself for her after what he did to her. He did seem remorseful prior to the fight when they spoke.

Layla is so brave and so good. She sacrificed herself to stop the apocalypse and to save Sam. The Lilin didn’t think that she would do such a thing, didn’t even suspect it. The way that she talked to him before she stabbed him made me think that she hoped he could change even if she didn’t really think it was possible. I mean, what would he even be like if he wasn’t evil?

Lilith basically tells Layla how disappointed she is in her and how she can’t believe that she created a daughter that didn’t basically bow down to her and then she tells her that the moment she was born and she looked into Layla’s eyes she knew the purest form of love. WTF?

The boss is a woman. I wasn’t expecting that. Layla wasn’t either, evidently. So she saved Layla because Lilith said she would never try to escape if she saved Layla. I wonder if that means that Lilith really did care for Layla or if she was just looking out for herself in the end and hoping to prolong her life. Also, why the hell was Morris sitting there with the big boss of hell? And what does that mean about him? Does that mean he isn’t human?

So the boss isn’t male or female? Just whatever “it” chooses to be? And it isn’t his mother either? Okay then.
