I didn't like The Pear Field by Nana Ekvtimishvili. It was longlisted for the International Booker prize. I read it because it was set in the country of Georgia, and it was a translated work. It just seemed as though there was nothing happy in this book.
Another book that I was disappointed with this year: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. I read it in high school. I had completely forgotten most of what the book was about. In my re-read, I just didn't enjoy it at all, and was very confused by the ending.
I didn't like Hounded. My reasons:You can't possibly imagine the MC as an ancient druid, and the female characters are mostly stereotypes, hot Goddesses who without exception find the MC irresistible or evil witches who can't be trusted.
Another list to which I could add soooooo many titles.I will add two.
I would be remiss if I didn't throw
out there. It was such a singularly bad book that I had to share it with many many people. Of course, there are a lot of KU titles that I have read for challenges that are equally bad, but this one kind of started it all for me.Then there is
.This is the book that made me never trust Oprah with book recommendations. Or trust the best seller list. Wow, it is just bad. Writing, characters, plot. Not quite brain bleach territory, but awfully close.

I am never gonna live down introducing that book to the group. SMH. Kadin was the star of Quidditch, apparently never to be forgotten.

Lynnette wrote: "The Personal Librarian Awful"HI Lynnette, I had read that it wasn't good. Sure sounds like a great premise.
Jenny wrote: "Plus, it has a book word in the title. That is too often catnip to all of us!"You have that right!

Karen, I was so sorely disappointed. It should have been good. Everything was there for it to be good, but they failed to deliver.
This one:
The All-Consuming WorldI'll just leave a link to my rant but it's so bad it's almost excellent :)

I'm stuck in The School for Good Mothers by Jessamine Chan. It started out pretty good and then just got weird. It's checked out of the library and there are people waiting for it, so I'm going to turn it in and maybe try again later. I'm disappointed because I wanted to enjoy this book.

The Bridges of Madison County is a book that I really liked. It's a love it or hate it type of book. But it's ok, not every book is for every reader : )
