What counts as a book?

Suppose I wrote a really short ebook and just tried to sell it online on my own. No ISBN or ASIN or anything. Would that count as a book that can be added to Goodreads?

Depends on how it is distributed. ISBN/ASIN is not required for a book to be added to the database.

If it requires signing up to your newsletter, it won't count.
If it is part of a Patreon reward/exclusive release, it won't count.
