I finished it! Sorry I took so long.
So I really enjoyed the book, and the ending was adequate in my opinion. I remember being more invested in her adventures when they were in Uppercross as well as Lyme. To be honest, once she reach Bath, everything seems to be so dull.
That includes how her character progressed into some kind of a hopeless romantic. I suppose it makes sense given how much she already have affection for him that doesn't go away. But it's frustrating to me to see her act that way. I like it back when she was cool haha, not when she was practically trying to rush into his arms.
I see why she would do it, I see why he would do it, to them 8 years has been wasted between them. I guess I wasn't buying much into the 8 years separation, because I don't empathize with their situation.

I thought the book was very enjoyable, and it has just enough tension to make you want to continue reading. It was surprising where some of the relationships went though, I feel like the book is a little misleading from Anne's POV, but maybe she's just an "unreliable narrator" because she assumes that Fred was over her and doesn't want to get her hopes up.
You're right that she becomes a little senseless later on but I kind of like it. Its sweet how much they care for each other even much later. She acted cool to protect herself, but when she knows he is interested in her and open/single she loses that composure cause she still has a chance :')
On your final point.. You're right I can't sympathize either and I feel like after 8 years I would kind of forget the person when I only knew them for a few months. I think I'd still be excited about meeting again though.
Anyway aside from plot I liked that the book was also like a commentary /comedy about high society lol. They really have some silly behaviors sometimes and see weird things as overly important. It was fun getting to know all the characters.
(or you can copy or rephrase everything again over here - though I think it's more reasonable to just give a review of what you think of the whole book since we're both pretty much finish reading it)
