Michelle Ostis | 290 comments I was thinking the same thing. As I initially read, I wasn’t picturing exactly where it was. I was only enjoying it as an idyllic spot (but for the mosquitoes) in which to spend a summer, bathing in a warm ocean, enjoying the company of others who gathered in the same spot year after year. And then there it was, Grand Isle, showing up clearly labeled on our television screens, cited over and over again in the days leading up to Ida’s landfall, directly in the path of the eye until the last minute—and then winding up the worst for being on the “dirty” side. You’ll have to wait a while to visit New Orleans again, Trevor—-and Grand Isle may not longer be there.

Kerry Jackson | 51 comments I was not familiar with Grand Isle and wondered if it was an actual place when low and behold it’s being mentioned as Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana. The descriptions really drew me in and was my favorite part of the book.
