Artemis is tall for a girl, coming in at about 6'. This only adds to her intimidating aura, as she's a fit, extremely athletic woman. Her eyes can sometimes appear different colors. Naturally they are the cold silver of the moon, though when she is hunting or with her animals they may have a brown or bright green shade to them. She has long black hair that she generally keeps in a ponytail or braid, just so it's out of the way.

Artemis has a deep caring for maidens, especially for maidens whom she presides over. Unlike her twin, she is less "easy-going" and more focused with a much greater understanding of mortals than most of the other Olympians. Although she is reasonable, Artemis holds a general dislike of men although she does acknowledge and respect those who prove themselves to her. Artemis is shown to be an independent goddess who prefers the company of her hunters to even that of other gods. She loves hunting and is associated with the moon. Artemis is among the more sympathetic Olympians and weighs individuals by their actions and choices as opposed to their potential.
However, there is a darker side to Artemis. When angered, she can be ruthless and vengeful. Until she knows someone well or feels that they are a good person, she can seem cold and aloof. She has proven many times that she is not a goddess to be trifled with, and can be noted for her sharp tongue and quick temper. Even her father, Zeus, has been on the receiving end of an angry tirade from Artemis.

Fλτλl Flλш Trust. Artemis has never been the most outgoing or open of goddesses, but after all the attacks on her and seeing what people, not just men, are really like... it grew worse. She has lost faith in almost everyone, gods included. Her independant streak has grown from wanting to do things herself to not trusting anyone and therefore help no matter the cost. Unfortunately, this has cost the lives of some of her hunters and it is likely that it will again.

Ancient:
Everything started when Hera found out that Leto was pregnant by her husband, Zeus. Furious and ashamed of this betrayal from Zeus, she cursed Leto not to find a solid ground or island on Earth to give birth to her children. Leto wandered around all Greece to find a place to give birth but people didn't let her bear her children close to their homes, afraid of Hera's anger. That is when Zeus emerged an island from the sea so that Leto would find a refugee. This island was Delos, which was believed to be a floating island. Leto found a safe refugee to give birth on Delos, which was surrounded by swans. The delivery of Artemis was painless but the birth of Apollo lasted for nine whole days and nights because Hera had kidnapped Eileithyia, the goddess of childbirth. With the absence of Eileithyia, Artemis was the one to help her mother deliver her twin brother, Apollo.
As a child Artemis asked daddy Zeus to grant her wishes – to remain a virgin forever; to be the Phaesporia or Light Bringer; to have a bow and arrow and a knee-length tunic so that she could hunt; and for twenty Amnisides Nymphs as handmaidens to watch her dogs and bow while she rested. She wished for only a single city city dedicated to her, but to rule the mountains and the forests. Zeus was such a softie that he gave her what she asked.
Artemis is one of the few, very elite gods to have killed another god. Adonis, the god of beauty and desire. It is another tale of her vengeance. Aphrodite, Adonis's lover, had killed Hippolytus, one of Artemis's best hunters and friends. When Adonis laughed about how Hippolytus had deserved his fate, the enraged goddess hunted him down with ease and watched as one of her boars gored him to death.
Luckily, Artemis has never claimed to be perfect. Later in her life, She overheard Aura, goddess of cool breezes and a sword maiden, talking. She said that Artemis's body was too feminine, and questioned whether Artemis was actually a virgin. Furious, Artemis told Nemesis, goddess of revenge, what had happened. Nemisis came up with a plot, and manipulated a drunk Dionysus into raping Aura. Aura gave birth to two sons, but was overcome by madness. When Artemis saw how Nemesis had avenged the slight, the horrified goddess interfered. Just in time to save the second son from the mad Aura, who had killed and eaten the first.
Orion is one of her most famous tales. He was her friend, and they hunter together for nearly a year. But Orion was struck by the disease that Eros and Aphrodite spread so effectively, and fell in love with the beautiful goddess. Apollo visited her and tried to tell her this, but Artemis had so much faith in her hunting companion she didn't believe her brother. But as time went on Orion grew frustrated with her blindness and refusals, and attempted to assault Artemis. The goddess called for her brother to help her, and Apollo sent a scorpion to attack Orion while he helped Artemis. Orion lept into the sea to escape the creature, and Artemis took advantage and shot him with her arrows.
The tale repeated itself in the less well known story of Acteon. Acteon was a hunter and one day while out hunting in the forest, he saw her bathing naked in a sacred spring. Acteon liked what he saw and tried to force himself on her. Artemis did the logical thing any woman would do, and reacted with fury and vengeance. Using her wild powers, she changed him into a stag. The stag was then devoured by Acteon’s own hunting dogs.
The virgin had to defend her honor yet again when the twin giants, the Aloadai, tried to make her and Hera their brides. It was easy for Artemis to escape on her own, but she wouldn't leave Hera, despite the Queen's dislike of her. Artemis distracted the giants and got them to chase her into the forest. She changed into a pure white doe and ran between the Aloadai, and when they shot at the deer she dodged the spears and they ended up killing each other.

"Let none disparage Artemis. For Oineus dishonoured her altar and no pleasant struggles came upon his city. Nor let any contend with her in shooting of stags or in archery. For the son of Atreus [Agamemnon] vaunted him not that he suffered small requital. Neither let any woo the Maiden; for not Otos, nor Orion wooed her to their own good. Nor let any shun the yearly dance; for not tearless to Hippo [queen of the Amazones] was her refusal to dance around the altar." - Callimachus

Modern:
Unlike the other gods, Artemis has not tried to fit into human society. She only ventures into cities and purposefully mingles with mortals when she is going to rescue a maiden she feels is being hurt. Other than that she stays in the woods, sometimes accompanying her Hunters. She cares for those girls deeply, and will always come to their aid when called.
She doesn't understand why the other gods are so obsessed with mortals and their world. It's all too noisy and... civilized for a goddess of the wild. So instead of playing with mortals like the others do, she keeps to herself. It is not uncommon for her to vanish into the woods hunting, and not be seen by mortals or even the other gods for a year. She may go and visit her Hunters, but she is very independent and doesn't stay with them for long.
She is not generally one to go visiting other gods, though she doesn't turn them away when they visit her. Usually. But she does search out her twin sometimes, and he is one of the few males that she will voluntarily and happily go hunting with.

Ker is the creator and master of the Keres, predictably by the name. The first Keres are her sisters, while Ker herself can create new ones out of the spirits of those who truly suffered in death. She is sometimes confused with simply being one of them, and she hates that. They are demons of death and violence.

The goddess of death no longer openly approaches souls directly, and instead, chooses to reap them while staying invisible.

With the help of her black wings, she can quickly glide through the air.
⇢Darazkinesis
A powerful ability if used properly can take all energy and convert it into dark energy, only her, Hades, and her brother Thanatos possess this power given it transfers Life energy into Death Energy. It is the rare ability to transform soul energy into dark energy. To some it is known as the touch of Death or Stare of Pain. Unfortunately, with her violent ways Ker has never had as much control over this as the others have.

Shadow and Darkness control as a child of both Erebus and Nyx she holds a great affinity for darkness.

And anything else she wishes. However, as Immortals do not have souls, she can only destroy them if Thanatos makes them mortal.

Naturally, Ker's eyes are a brilliant red color, but many times before she wants to torture or kill among mortals she chooses another color to make them. Most often it's blue or brown. Her long hair is pitch black and thick, falling down to at least the center of her back. Her height can vary, depending on how intimidating she wants to be, but normally she is around 5'9.

It’s impossible to like aggressive things without being an aggressive person, and for Ker, nothing has been truer. She loves nothing more than getting riled up and verbally - if not physically - abusing someone. She’s got a wicked violent side, and once it’s provoked it is most definitely a sign to get out of the way. Nothing scares Ker. The gorier and the more violent the thing, the more she likes it, especially if it’s actually happening in person. Especially since fear is still behind her blockade. It's literally impossible for her to feel fear.
If befriending Ker, beware. She doesn’t shy from seeking out dangerous things and dragging her friends into dangerous - and sometimes even potentially fatal - situations. Boredom is a problem with her, and she’s even been known to set up her own dangerous situations. More often than not, other people are the victims of the goddess's boredom.

As she was cursed and changed when she was young, sometimes she still has problems with emotions. She doesn't always quite understand what they are, and the ones she does know are right on edge. She's much more likely to get upset than even Hades. Ker can't feel many emotions, the prominent ones being kindness and mercy.

When she was born, Ker had no purpose. They weren't expecting another child, and she had no assignment. It was incredibly lonely and depressing to have no purpose, especially when everyone else did. She went to her parents, begging for something she could have. Thanatos sided with her, believing that she should be able to have a true job. Because he was the only one who even put up with her, she sided with him against Eros. It was her idea that brought the love god down, and that's what finally gave her purpose.
She grew into her duties as violent death, and soon destruction as a general whole was hers to control. But after only a day or so it was decided that with her duties, everything she had to do would drive her mad. It was supposed to be a secret, but Thanatos told her what was going to happen, hoping to convince her to accept it.
Instead Ker flipped. She couldn't stand that all these people were deciding her fate for her. Besides, she knew what it would mean. No more happiness, no more joy, no more love for her family. She tried to run off, but her family found her. That was the only time Ker has ever cried in all of history. She broke down, begging with them to just leave her alone, but Nyx, Erebus, Hypnos, and the others knew that having to destroy souls would destroy her.
They blocked off her memory of the event, and the memories of what had happened. It was made so she wouldn't remember that she had ever had emotions, then blocked her emotions.
In the beginning Ker just did her job. She was perfectly psychopathic, no emotions. She stayed close to her brother, Thanatos. But as time went on, the emotional block slowly began to wear off. Her behavior grew more sporadic as she grew into the emotions, and took a downhill turn. She saw what she'd done. But she was used to it. Emotions didn't effect that part. However, instead of simply doing her job, she started enjoying it. It amused her how people begged for their lives. Their screams were her music.
Eventually, taking souls and torturing them in the Fields of Punishment wasn't enough. She wanted something... fresher. So she went from taking souls to taking lives. Instead of just taking their soul, she went out of her way to kill them before their time, reveling in it. This way she could spill some real blood.
Memories started to resurface, escaping the barrier. She remembered what her family had done to her, and it gave her her first true strong emotion, the first one besides pleasure.
Hate. As they always have ever since this first one, it came with agonizing pain and an incredible upheaval of that emotion. As it was the first time she'd felt hate for thousands of years, the emotion was so intense that for a brief time she did go mad with it, especially since anger accompanied hate as it usually does. She single handedly killed all of the dinosaurs before Thanatos calmed her down enough to get her to control it. That event was what gave her the control of destruction.

Modern:
There have been no strong emotions since then, so she's stuck to feeling pleasure. She started mixing things up, playing with her prey before she killed them. However, torture immediately was too mundane. Seduce, sex, torture, kill became her new strategy.
At this point, her favorite thing to do is to hang out at a nightclub. With her looks it's easy for her to pick up a guy. Then she takes them off to either her human place or theirs, and either she leaves content, or she just has to kill them to cheer herself up. Either way, good deal for her.

↳Never having been one to just take the violence, Peitho enlisted some of the other gods to teach her how to defend herself. She's learned from the best, from Ares, god of war, Bia, goddess of force, to her father, Hermes (He may not be a god associated with fighting, but she always asks her father for help.) She's even walked around mortals, learning from Bruce Lee, Hercules, and many other demigods.

Daggers
↳Peitho is not foolish enough to go without some solid protection though. A pair of twin daggers as long as a forearm are kept on her at all times. When she doesn't need them, they aren't their. Much like the Hunters' bows, they appear when needed.

Whip
↳A rarer weapon, and one that works perfectly for Peitho. It's deadly, graceful, and wickedly sharp with different tips for different uses. She's grown rather adept at it throughout the years, and secretly learns new tricks from Indiana Jones movies. It's a bracelet when not in use.

It is usually assumed that because Peitho is female in the sphere of love, she's delicate and gentle. Nothing could be further from the truth. It's her mother, Aphrodite, who deals with love and the delicate side of things. Her father Hermes is the sweet one of the family.
Peitho is wild and ferocious with her intensity. Though she does not exactly approve or encourage rape, it's her that causes it to happen. She doesn't try t get girls hurt, but... It's her job to seek out people with a crush. It's her that whispers in their ear to act on it. But she's not always obvious. Peitho is clever, knowing when to dial back and manipulate. She's not just clawing nails and teeth, she's also winks, blushes, and light touches that make you tremble.
Peitho is seduction; the woman dressed all in red who smiles indulgently and whispers to those who listen for her. She is not lovely nor gentle, and yet she is. She is animal instinct combined with human emotion – she is thrumming desire, pulsing need. She is the herald of Aphrodite, and thus privy to both sides of everything: the blurring softness of beauty and love of Aphrodite, and the harsh sharpness of addiction and survival that she represents. She is necessary in all of this, too: she is what separates man from beast: she is sex for the sake of sex, need for the sake of need.

Hermes was about 1,500 years of age when he had at last decided upon having some children and losing his virginity. He had always been joked around with by the other god's about sleeping with Aphrodite who always got caught in an affair and humiliated with ares by her husband Hephaestus. Naturally, Hermes would just laugh along and joke about getting caught with Aphrodite if it meant laying with her, but at last he managed to persuade the goddess to lay with him. Hermes lost his virginity and Aphrodite gave birth to a boy who resembled both mother and father. Hermaphroditus was the first of Hermes children, then a beautiful young girl who looked more like her father and was named Tyche (Goddess of Good and Bad Fortune)...later it was Pan, but that was a simple affair as Hermes' heart belonged to Aphrodite. The couple at last had a third child Peitho. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. Aphrodite took the kids and moved off as far from Hermes as possible to get with her old boyfriend Ares and managed to stay as far as possible from Hephaestus her husband as well.
She was the youngest of three born to them, and that lasted a few days. But soon after Peitho was born, Aphrodite went running back to Ares, taking her kids with her away from Hermes. Aphrodite didn't really want the kids though, just took them to spite Hermes. So Peitho and the other kids were left alone much of the time. They weren't abused by Ares or Aphrodite, they just ignored the kids. As she was never close to her siblings, Peitho had to find someone else to play with.
She searched out Hermes, and ended up spending much of her time with her real father. He was most definitely better than the negligent Aphrodite and Ares, helping her find out what her powers were and trying to find out how to help her control them. Peitho was never exactly forthcoming with her mother about where she went, since Aphrodite was never keen to know. But when she found out where Peitho was going, she was not happy.
The love goddess is known for her vengeful schemes, and even her daughter was no different. Furious that her own daughter would do what she saw as betrayal, she bided her time, letting the fear of anticipation grow in the persuasion goddess. And of course, she struck just when Peitho was beginning to relax a bit.
A confused Peitho was suddenly married to Phoroneus, son of a god. He was loud, a jerk, and worst of all... He was mortal. But Peitho was fairly tame at this point, and she went with it for the most part, putting up with her new husband reluctantly. And then he cheated on her. Peitho was both furious and confused. She was one of the most beautiful goddesses, and she didn't understand why anyone would cheat on her. So she did what gods rarely do, and she divorced him. She was at the point that she didn't care about Aphrodite anymore, or what she would do to Peitho.
But Peitho hadn't known she was pregnant. Having been 'raised' by Ares and Aphrodite, she had no idea how to deal with kids and so she went to her father. As he always did, he helped her through it. Father and daughter raised Aegialeus together, which led to the assumption that they were married. Soon Aegialeus was of age, and he went on his way, having been raised and ending up way better than Peitho. The problem was that Aegialeus had a mortal father. Being only a demigod, he soon passed on. Peitho was distraught for a long while, before she finally accepted that death was a part of life. She didn't forget her son, he just wasn't occupying every thought anymore. She moved on.
Many gods came to court Peitho, drawn by her looks and her unnatural powers. She developed her abilities of Seduction and Persuasion, and soon she was desired even more than the mother she despised at this point. But she was surprisingly choosy for what she represented. She gave in to only two at this point: Pan and Apollo.
From Pan she had Iynx, who had a tragic tale of her own. After she had grown old enough, she kissed her mother goodbye. for a while, she was a good, normal girl. But she quickly grew bored of her normal, safe life. Iynx wanted some fun. And what better way than to screw with the king of the gods? She cast a spell on Zeus, making him fall for Io. This drew Hera's wrath, and she was forever transformed into the first of a new species, the Iynx bird.
Apollo gave her Apia, or Apis. He was a well-known healer in his time, as well as a leader. He became a king after Peitho's first husband had died, assisted behind the scenes by Peitho, who was determined that not all of her children would end tragically. He freed Argos from snakes, and Peitho was incredibly proud of her son. He used spells and sorcery to cure plague, saving thousands of people. This came with a price though. Ker, not to be denied the deaths that would have gone to her, killed the god before he could achieve the greatness he was capable of.
Heartbroken that another of her children had died, Peitho sworn off having kids. She loved kids, especially her own, and couldn't handle all the deaths hers got unfairly. It was then another god with tragic children tales came to her. Eros knew what it was like to lose kids, and as the two ended up having to work together often, kind of liked Peitho and didn't want her upset all the time. As expected when you have Desire and Seduction in close proximity, the obvious thing happened.
Followed by a complete surprise.
Eros hadn't been able to have kids before, but, lo and behold, Peitho was pregnant again. She kept it a secret, and only her and Hera know. Hygeia was goddess of cleanliness and sanitation, and soon went to work for the famed healer Asklepios. It was assumed that he was her father, as many of his attendants were his children. And Peitho never countered the rumor. Peitho watched over her daughter ferociously, terrified something would happen to another of her children. But Hygeia is safe. She still works for Asklepios, also learning from Athena after Peitho pleaded with the other goddess to help protect her daughter.
Then, Peitho dropped out of sight. She became less of a known figure and more of a voice in your mind. This is the part that added to her mystique, and at this point she was rarely seen by the other gods, despite her presence controlling all of them.

Unlike many of the other gods, Peitho is still directly involved in mortal affairs. She's quite often in the club, whispering into the mind of people checking each other out. Unknown to most of the other gods, she's gotten a job as a mortal. It's perfect for her, basically making a living off the horniness she inspires in others.
She is a queen among them, just as she was an unspoken queen among the gods. But she still refuses to lower herself to sleep with any of them. Her first husband, the mortal, is her biggest regret and she absolutely refuses to do that again.
The only people she's ever loved are her father and her children. She is not about to get herself tied up with a mortal and break her streak, especially when she knows they will die long before she does.

Part Two

Just looking at Perry is enough to intimidate most people. With a height of almost 6 and a half feet, pale skin, and jet black hair she's scary enough. Add to that a burn or metallic mask covering half her face and an overprotective head of the underworld for a father and even gods tend to try and avoid her.

For the most part, that's for the best. She's an intensely shy, scared girl especially for a goddess. Usually she seems to shrink into herself, not wanting to scare people and self conscious about her height. She loves people and desperately wants to be loved by them in return not necessarily romantically, but just as a friend or positive acknowledgement as a being with thoughts and feelings. But she's so scared of people and being hurt again it's nearly impossible for her to manage that. Usually she hides in her corner of the underworld, entertaining herself by turning flowers into gorgeous gems and sometimes the tasks sent to her.

Despite being sweet and shy, being hurt so severely turned her a bit odd. She has an intensely sadistic nature, reveling in the pain she can cause others. Luckily for everyone she doesn't go out to find people, she waits to be sent those damned souls who deserve it. It's not a sex thing for her, it's a power one. With her fear and shyness she has very little control over most things, and when someone's sent and tied up in her torture chamber she doesn't have to worry about what they think of her, or if they'll hurt her.

She'll do anything to anyone tied up in her chamber, except one. Fire. Because of the burns she suffered on her face she's completely terrified of flames, avoiding them at any and all costs. It's common for her to have nightmares about the pain of her flesh melting off to the bone, but she didn't say anything about it. Her terror is well known and frequently used against her, both as a serious attack and pranks.

Well, it used to be used against her. Once Hades figured out what was going on he started catching the people tormenting Perry and chaining them up for her to slice into. Hades is basically the only person she's actually comfortable around, as her father. She helps him out a lot with running the underworld, and trusts him unlike everyone else. He's the black sheep of Olympus and she's the black sheep of everywhere including the underworld, so it makes sense for father and daughter to get along.

Perry doesn't like to talk to people. She's almost scared of most of them, and avoid them if possible. Of course, that leaves her at a strong disadvantage in many situations.

Hades was lonely, that was all. He and Persephone had just started fighting and he missed his wife. At the time he had a lot of free time on his hands, time to daydream. He was so heartbroken over Persephone leaving him that he used the free time to imagine how their life could have been. He imagined a perfect world, a perfect marriage, a perfect daughter. He spent so much time and effort and put so much detail into it that the daughter he imagined just came to life. She stepped right out of the dream and into reality, already fully grown and with all the knowledge he imagined she would have.

He'd imagined her sweet and loving like Persephone but powerful and dark like him, and so Mesperyian was. Everyone quickly came to adore the sweet goddess of the underworld who could manipulate Hades even more affectively than Persephone could. She was as beautiful as he knew a daughter of Persephone and himself would be, and that was what truly got her into trouble.

Her beauty made the goddess of beauty herself jealous, and Aphrodite came to visit the new girl everyone adored. Knowing that since Perry was a goddess she could not be killed, Aphrodite came up with a plan. She gifted the younger goddess with a beautiful comb, and of course Perry was grateful. She was pleased the gods were all accepting her, especially the jealous Aphrodite. As Aphrodite had expected she did use her gift, brushing out the long, dark hair the other gods so adored. But Aphrodite's plan came into play, and Perry's face where the comb had touched burst into flame, scorching one side of her face forever. They managed to put the fire out, but half of Perry's perfect face was already destroyed.

This undeniable, unnecessary act of cruelty changed Perry. She was still sweet as ever but now she was skittish and scared, never able to be quite comfortable and always fearing flames and new people. Hades had Hephaestus make his daughter a beautiful mask to cover her scars, but it wasn't the same and they all knew it. She was gifted with a pair of pitch black angelic wings to try and make up for what Aphrodite had done, but that couldn't fix her face. She was also granted the ability to control fire, but she never does and it hasn't lessened her terror.

When she was wandering her father's realm she came across the fields of punishment, and rather quickly discovered something else that had changed. Now she reveled in their pain, glad that it wasn't her screaming anymore. In days she had become adept at torture, and very quickly found herself the head of torture in the underworld.

Modern
Perry has kept her place as one of the head torturers of the Underworld, but doesn't venture out much. Though she is not officially banned from Olympus for most days like her father, she has no desire to go. She's never been to Olympus and has no desire to change that. People make her uneasy, whether gods or mortals. So unlike many of the minor immortals she never got a job, and never really joins the outside world.

For the most part she stays in her little corner of the underworld, rarely bothered except drop offs of people to torture. It's not uncommon for her to just walk around the underworld, visiting with her father before vanishing back to her home. Occasionally she gets visits from gods and half bloods looking to learn from her sadistic ways, but she refuses all visitors, preferring to stay to herself and her victims, only voluntarily seeing her father.

↳Given her close connection with flowers and they can generate pheromones of different kinds, it's not surprising that she can generate and control pheromones herself. The user can secrete powerful pheromones that have a variety of effects on others, all related to behavior.

Although not truly a weapon, more of her symbol, it's worth mentioning. When she first arrived in the Underworld she figured out pretty quickly that people respected power, and symbols. So she adopted it as a symbol, getting Hades and then Demeter to bless it so she could use it to concentrate her power.

Bow/Arrow

Gifted to her by her older sister Artemis. During her six months above ground Artemis taught her how to use it. Given Persephone's aversion to violence, however, it's not surprising that she rarely uses it. When she's above for the spring and summer she sometimes does target practice with Artemis and occasionally Apollo.

Her long dark hair is way and generally pinned back in an elegant style by one of her nymphs, though she prefers to leave it long when she can.

Among the gods, and even the mortals with her myth, Persephone is well known as one of the most innocent and gentle of the immortals. She isn't stupid by any means, but she can be naive about many things. After all, she's been somewhat isolated most of her life, first in nature away from the other gods, and then in the underworld. She's happy that way, but it means that she's somewhat ignorant about some things. Luckily she's always been curious and is willing to listen and learn, and insists Thanatos tells her of the human world when he returns from his tasks.

Still, tales of fighting and war from above horrify her. She's always been gentle and avoids fighting, but she doesn't like violence of any kind. Anytime Hades has to go fight she tries to talk him out of it, then worries and agonizes over him until he returns. So it's not surprising that she's gentle in almost all ways, more easily compared to a kitten than queen of hell. Her voice is soft, her clothes are delicate, her small stature, everything about her screams fragility.

Except her backbone, which is made of iron. Persephone may act gentle and delicate and cheerful and she is, but she is no pushover. If she doesn't want to do something she is not going to do it, if she wants something to happen she's going to make it happen. This is not a goddess who's going to let anyone push her around, even her husband. He has a better chance of persuading her than anyone and she generally lets him convince her, but once she takes a stand on something she will never change her mind about it.

After all, she is a queen no matter how kind she is. That can go to her head sometimes and she will never be cruel or abuse her power, but she tends to revel in it. She loves that she is what she is and she loves being with the king, in addition to loving Hades himself. Which is her fear. Despite her act, Persephone is actually incredibly insecure about her husband. She's not the weird stalking type or the murderous jealous type that Hera is, but she is terrified that Hades doesn't love her anymore. That's why she sometimes takes it out on his lovers. She hates that he has them, but generally doesn't do anything. Unless he tells them anything about loving them. Then her insecurities grow worse and she's more likely to lash out. She's not as bad as she used to be because she went from angry about him not loving her to more just scared and resigned.

But she isn't stupid. For the most part she leaves them alone, unless the women push. And she can be clever in her punishment, not always killing them but simple transforming them. She's creative in many ways, helping her husband come up with different punishments for people in the Fields of Punishment. For the most part she is kind, and she's the one heroes appeal to when they have to come to the underworld.

She has a soft spot for heroes that's well known, and can be easily convinced of their stories. Now, this doesn't mean she's easily manipulated. She's not stupid, after all. But she always wants to trust people and see the best in them, so she is likely to believe the sad sob stories she's presented with. After all, she did fall in love with someone who kidnapped her. But despite trusting easily she's incredibly protective, and if anything in the story could even somewhat threaten her family and happiness she doesn't care what happened to the hero, her number one concern is her family.

But she has also lived in the underworld for much of her life, and that has left her with a streak of viciousness, though luckily not sadism. It can be easy to forget she is the queen of the underworld. She is the one who people fear to speak of, terrified to say her name. Don't mistake her kindness for weakness, because if it because necessary she can be just as vicious as her husband, if not more so. She's just more hands-off. Hades can go after someone himself, but Persephone will have the skeletons do it for her, or send one of the minor gods.

When anyone tells her something, she's inclined to believe them. She's not gullible, she just wants to see the best in people. She trusts people with things quickly, as evidenced by her marrying the man who kidnapped her. Obviously this has some major downsides as it is easy for people to lie, she just doesn't want to believe that of anyone.

In most stories of Persephone, her myth begins and ends with Hades. In reality, neither is true. The long version of story begins as a lot of the gods and goddesses do, with a bored Zeus trying to hit on one of the goddesses. Demeter had more standards than most, however, and was not impressed. It took some time and convincing, but gradually Demeter started to give in. Rather abruptly she decided she wanted a child, and given Zeus's history he seemed the perfect god for the job. So Demeter accepted his proposition and eventually gave birth to a daughter, Persephone.

Of course Hera immediately hated the child, but she didn't try anything against her own sister's child. Still, Demeter feared her younger sister's wrath and took Persephone far away from Olympus, giving her dozens of nymph handmaidens as both friends and protectors. Artemis and Athena visited frequently, happy to have a younger sibling safe from Hera and from other gods that they could spend time with. They taught her how to fight, or at least tried to.

Even from a young age Persephone was incredibly gentle, and she hated hearing about fighting and wars. So Athena and Artemis didn't push the issue. It was nice for them and for Demeter that Persephone preferred to spend her days with her friends running through meadows picking flowers, rather than wading into the middle of a blood bath.

Apollo learned of Persephone's home from his sister and came to court the young goddess, quickly accompanied by Hermes. Demeter turned them away but Persephone was curious about her visitors and snuck out to meet them. Rather than pushing to marry them, she insisted they tell her of Olympus and what she was missing out on, ending up befriending the two gods.

Still, for the most part Persephone stayed with just her nymphs in her flower fields, although she was always happy for company. Demeter was happy to let her daughter play and pick flowers with her handmaidens and occasionally her sisters, not knowing about her male friends as well. So Demeter let her daughter wander farther and farther, and was more and more willing to leave for lengths of time in order to attend to the mortals' crops.


So Demeter wasn't around when Hades came after Persephone. The beautiful flower goddess was light and kindness where he was darkness and cruelty, and he wanted someone like her to brighten up his kingdom and his bed. He rarely officially courted, so he went to his brother Zeus, both for advice and permission about his daughter. Of course, Zeus being the way he was, he gave his approval along with his advice: Why court a maiden and be faced with her mother when you could just kidnap her?

And so it happened that Persephone was picking flowers with her nymphs, happy as she always was. But the ground began to shake and everything grew dark and cold, and then the ground split and the king of the underworld came out of it. Of course Persephone was shocked and somewhat horrified, but she'd always been curious. So she didn't kick and scream and fight, she just got into the chariot and went down to his kingdom.

It was fascinating, but she had no desire to live there. She was fine with visiting and seeing the sights but she didn't want to marry Hades. She was happy with her nymphs and flowers, and the underworld was dark and gloomy. Why would she want to stay? The longer she was stuck in the underworld, the more miserable she grew. Of course she grew her own flowers and gardens, but it wasn't the same. She missed the fields and the sunshine and her friends.

And then he made her an offer. A proposal. Marry him, and she would be a queen. Everyone would bow to her, and she could do anything and everything she wanted. Persephone wasn't stupid, and she jumped at the chance. Who wouldn't want to be a queen? So she accepted his proposal, despite not liking the god.

While Persephone was exploring the underworld, Demeter had discovered her daughter was missing. Her and Hecate searched frantically for the younger goddess, abandoning her duties to the mortals and their crops as she looked. Eventually Helios, who saw everything as the sun, heard of Demeter's search and told her what had happened. Of course Demeter immediately went to the underworld to retrieve her daughter and was furious and heartbroken when Hades refused to allow her to see Persephone. This only strengthened her thought of a brutal kidnapping, and she vowed that as long as her daughter was stuck in the underworld, nothing would grow. (hide spoiler)]

Eventually Zeus heard about the death of crops and heard the cries of the mortals and had to do something about it. So he went to Hades, but they were already married. What where they supposed to do? So Zeus cam up with a solution, combined with a lie. He told Demeter that since Persephone had 6 pomegranate seeds she would be in the underworld 6 months of the year.

But still, Persephone didn't love her husband. She didn't hate Hades, but she had no affection for him. Of course, the more time she spent with him and the more attention he gave her, the more gifts, the more love he gave her the more she came to care about him. After all, he was attractive, and a king. Why wouldn't she like him? As time went on she fell in love with the god in return, coming to look forward to the fall and winter she spent with him and dread the spring and summer away.

After a while, they had their first child, Zagreus. Zeus loved Hades son so much he felt compelled to steal the child away. Hera jealous in fit that Zeus loved a child of Hades more so than his own. While Zeus went to go fix a bottle of Ambrosia milk for baby Zagreus who was sitting on Zeus' throne with his lightening bolts the Titans and giants came forth sent by Gaia and a jealous Hera.

Zagreus was taken and Zeus' bolts were used against the child, but he did not damage. They chased after him and Zagreus turning into a number of animals at once finally turned into a young deer. Artemis took pity on him and pushed her own brother's heard of deer out. There he transformed into a calf. The giants had thought they caught him seeing only one bull glowing. Persephone was sure her son had been killed, until Acheron reached out to her, telling her that the giants had killed the wrong animal.

Hoping against hope, Persephone went where she was told Zagreus would be and was overjoyed to have found her son again, alive and well. Still, she wasn't stupid. She kept the child a secret from everyone except Hades when she took him back to the underworld, raising him and gifting him with a bit more power all the time. When at last she felt he was strong enough she didn't bother keeping him a secret anymore, confident he could take care of himself.

She became somewhat famous, being the lightest underworld goddess. Everyone was intrigued by a flower goddess that had become the queen of the underworld, and when Theseus and Pirithous made their pact to each marry a daughter of Zeus, she was Pirithous's choice. But neither the queen nor the king was about to let that happen. Theseus and Pirithous were stuck to rocks the instant they got to the Underworld, growing to become part of the rocks themselves. Eventually Herakles came down to rescue them, and Persephone allowed him to take Theseus back to the mortal world as it had not been his idea. Besides, she liked heroes, including Herakles.


Persephone was also well known for her faithfulness to Hades, even with his occasional indiscretions. She only cheated on him twice, and once wasn't truly her fault. Zeus, knowing of Persephone's devotion to her husband, disguised himself as Hades to come down and visit her. She ended up sleeping with him, but they were interrupted by the real Hades. The couple was horrified, and she was as heartbroken as he was furious. She hated thinking that she had betrayed Hades, even if she didn't know. But he couldn't be mad at her, even when she ended up pregnant and gave birth to a daughter, Melinoe.

Her other fling was more complicated and dangerous. Aphrodite grew fond of a mortal boy but didn't want Ares to find out so she sent him to Persephone, trusting the underworld queen to stay as faithful as she always had. But Adonis was quite literally the most handsome mortal in existence, and even Persephone wasn't immune. She didn't want to give him back to Aphrodite when she came back for the boy, and they turned to Zeus to settle the argument. It was decided that Adonis was to spend 4 months of the year with each of them, and four with whoever he choose.

So for four months Persephone loved and entertained the boy. Hades knew very well of her mortal consort, but she didn't tell her husband that she actually cared for Adonis. Hades was confident enough that she loved him that he didn't push the issue, allowing her what he saw as her simple toy. But at the end of her four months it was time for Adonis to choose where he wanted to stay, and Persephone was heartbroken when he choose Aphrodite, not wanting to be stuck in the underworld any longer. The goddess was heartbroken, but she didn't dare argue, for the sake of her husband's feelings. By the time her four months came around again Artemis had killed the youth, and Persephone had to mourn in secret.

But although she had loved the boy she also loved her husband, and she felt guilty about her indiscretions. So for her next two months in her time with Hades she did everything she could for him, but it still didn't feel enough for her and her guilt. So she ended up deciding to have another child by him, giving birth to Macaria of blessed death.

Currently her only excursions into the mortal world are few and far between. She never lost that curiosity that brought her to the underworld in the first place, but now she is more careful with her time. Being stuck between her husband and her mother, whenever she is with one she devotes all her time to them. She doesn't want to miss out on time with them for silly excursions into the human world.
