I think it was written by 2 authors (1 man/1 woman). A 4th book was written afterwards to be a prequel about the parents of the 3 siblings. The mother was the ruler of the galaxy (or was about to be crowned). The father was a space cowboy kind of character.

I hope I'm not getting story lines crossed! Any help is appreciated.
