I honestly wanted to make this book a three star review but the content in it is so well written and put together that I just can’t. Is it worth the 804 pages that makes it? No it isn’t. 804 could easily I think been 402 as I found it very repetitive but I understand that is just the style of Greg Isles writing so I guess it is just one that I just do not care for. I did enjoy the story and I feel that it was a shame I could not find myself to pick the book up until a whole month after starting it. That is because I had something happen in me where I live that just hit to close to home with this book that made the content just a little to heavy to read at that moment. It made me look at the book in a new light though and was able to connect with it in a different way. As this is a sequel of Natchez Burning, some sequels don’t match up to the original book, the one that starts it all. This one I find equals it. I am curious how Mississippi Blood is and that is one on my To Be Read list. I found myself crying in parts of this book and laughing in others. Real trauma happens to all the characters that are involved. So many characters to name so going to keep it short. If you enjoy history of JFK and the tragedy of his death, the conspiracies, then you’ll be happy to know that it makes a great deal of this book. What also makes up this book is the Double Eagles, KKK, and the Black History which shows that Greg Isles really did his research and made sure that the important history facts were well highlighted and illuminated in this book. He brings it all to light and how it affects the people of Natchez in The Bone Tree. Definitely a must read,
