Reuben is highly attracted to Abby. Was it inappropriate for him to become intimate with her at the time that he did or was she already eliminated as a suspect and it no longer mattered?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) I wouldn't think why the case was in any way active that it would be appropriate. But in romantic suspense world it is par for the course. At least Reuben did acknowledge it was wrong and really tried to resist his attraction... till he couldn't. Got to suspend belief when you read this genre and particularly older books.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I expected it. I don't think appropriate or inappropriate with most books I read especially if they are more than ten years old. That was par for the course until recently.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 3009 comments I think it toed the line of being inappropriate. Abby had been cleared as a suspect. Reuben was relieved from the case. It wasn't good, but I knew it was going to happen.

If she wasn’t a suspect or a witness, then where’s the infraction? I couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

Lauren (laurenjberman) It's a common trope in romantic suspense and I've just decided to go with the flow.

Also, in this specific instance, Abby was clearly not a realistic suspect and she wasn't much of a witness either and he had been removed from the case. So I don't think Reuben was really crossing any lines.
