Good cop. bad cop.. it's fairly standard in lots of books and film. Reuben was immediately attracted to her but I think he was also considering what they knew so far and Abby wasn't a really strong candidate for the murder so let Brinkman push harder.
I did think Brinkman was a little over the top even playing the bad cop. I didn't feel he had enough evidence to go at her the way he did.
Maybe the author was trying to highlight the difference to Bentz contrasting their interrogation styles. It confirmed the strong and effective partnership with Bentz and Montoya.
Brinkman and Luke would have been best buds, if they had known each other. I got that it was good cop - bad cop, but Montoya let him get a little carried away. He was a jerk.
I hate it when detectives get so wedded to a potential suspect they lose their objectivity. Sure, take a look at Abby to cover all bases but Brinkman was trying to fit the person to the crime instead of vice versa. He was an idiot and yes, like Sharon, he pissed me off, too. And Montoya was too passive.
Yes, it was the Good Cop-Bad Cop routine. Brinkman was completely obnoxious and infuriating. He is definitely a misogynist because he has a similar attitude with Olivia.
