I read this between 2015-2017. It was a standalone, and I think a paperback. The cover might have been royal blue or violet. A churchgoing woman snarled at a teenager for giving the woman's son a blowjob. She was putting books on a shelf with her, I think? I don't remember the woman as the church librarian. I think they were volunteering. I remember being really surprised that passages like that would be in a YA book. I don't remember if it was a mystery or a romance. The teenager was terrified of the woman after that, but I think she and the boy kept seeing each other. He was not afraid of his mom; but indifferent.

I'll comment if I remember anything else.

“And I'Il tell you another thing.” Mrs. Maggy’s eyes hardened. “You keep that stinking mouth off my boy, you hear?” She stood up from the table and took their cups. “You smell like the Devil’s own cuttlefish.”

Zev | 361 comments Yes! I read the book in one sitting last night. The passage is at the end of chapter fourteen. It also turns out this book was one I was looking for also since a character has synesthesia. Thank you!
