TSH R:9-Lemon Drops
Hi friends! Excited for the game. And not it for captain lol I'm not organized enough for that. Some team name suggestions:
Yellow Fever Basketcases
Yellow Jacket Bordello
Um okay I suck at names too lolol
Obviously I will make a rubbish captain too as I have never played this game before, I have however done various bingo and SSS challenges. As for names:
Mellow Yellows
Yellow Snow (hahaha sorry made me chuckle)
Lemon Drops
All That Glitters is Gold
Gold Diggers
Hi everyone! I absolutely loved playing last time.I'd prefer not to be captain - I've got so much going on with the children at the moment that I probably can't put in the time. Happy to help out though.
I really like Lemon Drops or Gold Diggers.
I am happy to be Captain - have been one before, but I am terrible at choosing names. Happy to go with whatever y'all decide.I will create a spreadsheet to keep track of everything.
For those who haven't played before, it's easy to find words using Amazon. You search for the book and must choose a paper copy. A very few books do not give the rights to search. If you need help searching a book (because you read paper or some other reason) please let us know.
I will post more later! Have a great day everyone. NancyHelen, so happy to be back on a team with you!
Hi Everyone! So excited to play! I've been waiting for the next game to start since the last one ended. :DI like Gold Diggers or Lemon Drops.
Leslie, its fab to be on a team with you again too! Thank you for volunteering to be captain too. I know you'll be great.
yeah thanks Leslie for offering! And thanks for the Amazon advice will need it lol ;) looking forwards to playing and will yell if I get stuck :)
I am good with either name - just choose one and I will let the mods know. There are several different strategies that can be used when playing this but I have not found that one works better than another.
We can all try and pick the same word each week or we can just randomly choose the words. I am happy with either method. As the game progresses, it will become important to finish out a word category and I will let you know this.
The most important thing to remember is to always find the bonus word. If you want any chance of winning at all, we must have 100% participation in getting the bonuses.
Has everyone used googledocs before? I will post the link to the spreadsheet once I have it created. Mine won't be as pretty as the the game spreadsheet however!
Here's the link to the spreadsheet. It is a work in progress! I am happy if someone has a better idea on how to organize, but I think it will work ok.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
I've sent an access request to you, Leslie, so I can see the spreadsheet.Last round, I was in the Blue team which won and we played it where we all tried to find the same words each round, except when one of us managed to get one of the really obscure words. It seemed to work OK, but I'm happy to go with whatever strategy you think is the best one.
I've also found if Amazon doesn't have the book, Google Books can work too, although it isn't always as good...
NancyHelen, I went ahead and changed the settings for viewing and editing. I forgot to do that last night. Thanks for the reminder. All those on here should be able to view and edit.As to strategy, I'm okay with trying to pick the same words each week unless there is one of the harder words available. I've usually done it where it's a mix of deliberate and random. I've tried to match when I could and if I couldn't, no worries. The most important thing in my opinion is getting the bonus words.
Do we have a name yet??? I will choose Lemon Drops if I don't hear anything else.
1 MORE DAY!!Just a heads up - I have to head up to Shreveport (I live in New Orleans but recently lived in Shreveport) tomorrow morning - family emergency. I will be driving when the word of the week is posted. If someone else can get on and post it, I would greatly appreciate it. I will be on later in the day so no worries. I'm so excited for this to start!!
Maybe we can all introduce ourselves, since I only know NancyHelen.
I live in New Orleans - until recently I was in Shreveport. I ended up there the day after Hurricane Katrina and stayed for 9 years.I am married and have 4 kids - 20,21,24,26. Three of them are here in New Orleans with me and one lives in Palo Alto. I'm living at my mom's at the moment and my husband stays with friends (no room here)though we will be moving into a home in March. It's going to get crazy!! I will be sure and give everyone a heads up when that happens. I just became an Allstate agent and work mostly full time. It's Mardi Gras time here in New Orleans - so as they say "Laissez les bon temp rouler!!"
Hey, I am on here all the time!! So will of course post of nobody else does. Although not really sure what I am doing as this is the first Scavenger hunt I have taken part in, but I am sure I will catch on soon enough. Shreveport....big smile ;) I heart True Blood. You probably get sick of people saving that.
I live in a place called Lancaster, in the North West of England. I am married with no children yet, but have two cats who are like my babies. I am a total book nerd and have already read 47 books this year. My favourite challenge has to be the monthly Scattegories. I like many different genres, but I am particularly partial to a highlander or good romance wether it be historical or contemporary.
I live in Vermont with my hubby and our two dogs. A 9 yr old pit bull named Lucy and we just got a 10 week old pit/husky mix (please don't get the husky hair!) we named Porter.I'm obsessed with my Kindle. I haven't picked up a physical book since I got it. Although, I've been getting into audio books lately. I have a 40 min commute to work and usually I plug my kindle in and listen so I might as well have someone with a little more personality read to me. :D though I'm pretty used to hearing "I went to Street Joseph's church on Sunday..."
Nice to get to know everyone!Sunshine - I was the same when I got my nook several years ago. I only read ebooks now.
Jade - I love the monthly Scattergories as well. And Highlanders are my favorite. And you will find this challenge very easy and fun. As to posting the announced word - not sure what time that will be in England. I'm not great at converting time zones. I think she's posting it at 1pm Eastern time US. So I'm guessing that will be sometime in the evening for you. But all you need to do is copy and past the WOW and the Bonus Word.
I read almost 100% romance - though many different sub genres. I occasionally read straight Historical fiction or mystery/suspense.
A little housekeeping -When you post what you are going to read and the word you are going to find - please make it a separate post with no conversation.
Also, when you complete your book and post your review, please include book name, date completed, word found, page and include the part of the sentence it's in. Do this for the bonus word as well.
Have we decided on trying to find the same words each week or just winging it?

Will check our your shelves now we are friends see if I can get some good recommendations ;)

Obviously as I am a newbie I can't really comment as I don't know yet how to play lol
I'm open to either way. I've only played once before and we all looked for the same words each week unless someone found one of the tougher words
Hi team. I'm a 40 year old Mum of two. Ethan, my eldest, is 3 years old and Josephine, my baby, is not quite 7 months old. In fact, Leslie and I were last on a team together when I gave birth to her! I currently live in a village in Surrey, in the UK. But on 5th October this year we are finally emigrating back to Australia (I am Australian, born in Adelaide). So its going to be quite a year for us too! Oh, there is the small matter of a wedding on 12 September as well...as if I didn't have enough to keep me busy!So looking forward to starting tomorrow.
Jennifer ♔Princess Penguin♔ wrote: "*I will be posting the Word of the Week and the Bonus Word at 12pm EST*"Will be 5pm here in the UK ;)
Thanks for the correction, JenniferPP! It won't be the last!My suggestion is let's try to match our words and see how it goes. If you can't do it, no worries. How does that sound?
NancyHelen - how is your beautiful baby? That was an exciting time! My grandbaby is 3 months old now. She is fat and happy!!
Congratulations, Leslie! Josephine is fine - she's just getting over a really bad bout of chicken pox (which she caught off her brother) but she seems to be back to her smiley self now. She's sitting up but not crawling yet, and she's still feeding every two hours at night (!!). I have honestly forgotten what it feels like to have a full nights sleep. But of course, I wouldn't be without her...
Good morning Lemon Drops!! Today is the day. I am headed out for the 5 hour drive to Shreveport. My daughter and I have a funeral to go to tomorrow. Her best friend since sophomore year in High School (she's a senior in college now)died unexpectedly. It's been a terrible couple of days.I will be on the computer later today. But if someone will post the words that will be great. The discussion can start on what words to read. I'll be fine with anything that's decided.
Thanks for the help. And NancyHelen - your baby sounds wonderful and I love the name. Sorry about the chicken pox but at least it's over for both of them.
~Leslie~ wrote: "Good morning Lemon Drops!! Today is the day. I am headed out for the 5 hour drive to Shreveport. My daughter and I have a funeral to go to tomorrow. Her best friend since sophomore year in High ..."My thoughts and prayers to your daughter and her friend's family. I hope they all find peace even in their time of grief :)
I too will be traveling today but I'll be on and off the computer while sitting in the airport. I'll check in sometime this afternoon. My conference ends this morning and then about 6 hours of travel
So sorry to hear about the loss to your daughter and to her friend's family. Be safe, everyone, whilst you are travelling.
I found ALL People and ALL PlacesThe only Things words I do not have are Candle, Umbrella, Lamp, Glasses
I'll read
by Dennis LeHaneIt has Blue and Flame (in fact, it is a blue flame!)
It has all of the 'people' list, all of the 'places' list and all of 'things' except book, candle and umbrella.
Leslie, if you decide which words we should claim once everyone has said what they're going to read, I'll go with that.
Hi team - I'm in Shreveport. Pretty quick drive. And thank you for all the kind words. She was a beautiful girl with a bright and loving spirit. It's one of the hardest things I've ever done as a mom to help my daughter handle this. And she is doing amazing. God is good!I will make a separate post with our choices. Let me take a look at what I have.
Okay, I think I have a list. WOW: Blue
Bonus: Flame
Friend
Bottle
City (must be pronoun)
Is everyone good with this?
