He won't blame Max. Once he has separated from Caitlin, he is going to grateful that Max got him out of a terrible marriage.
My feelings about William are sort of a hybrid of what you both feel.
William is about as weak as they come. I also don’t believe he ever loved Caitlin. She was convenient and it was time for him to have a wife and start a family. Whether he divorces her depends on how the winds are blowing. They may work hard to get her institutionalized in a mental health facility. Then he can sleep around as much as he wants and get society’s sympathy.
I don’t think he’ll forgive Max. She disordered his “tidy” life.
