Help Me Remember A Title

I have forgotten the title of a Dean Koontz book that I read a long time ago. In the story the hero is in some sort of desert compound doing his best to escape. He sees his chance and hides in the trunk of a car, only to discovery it is the car of his adversary. Anyone know the title of this book, I would like to read it again.

This does not sound familiar. Could it be "Strangers?" although that scene doesn't come to mind. Anyway, I found a website that purports to list all Dean's books:

I found a bunch of his early books on there that I'd never heard of.

Just back from the link in Willa's post. Some of those early science fiction books I read. I think I still have the Ace Doubles listed. As for the bit David is remembering, I can't place that in a Koontz book. In lots of other thrillers it's a common scene. We'd need more of the plot or additional action to place the story.

ShadowFires has a scene where the VILLAIN gets into the heroine's trunk and hitches a ride so that he can kill her when she reaches her destination.
