I read this book a while ago and I would like to refresh my memory about the events of the book before I start reading the second book.
Where could I find a full summary of it? I have searched for one online but I did not find any.

The second book does a pretty good job of inserting those reminder sentences like, "After X died at the Battle of Y last month, we were training at Dun Seren..."
There's also a character list at the start of the books, so you can refresh who is who.
I would give the second book a try and see if you can get into it.
